space shuttle engines

Recommended Posts

I used fuel engines instead of boosters only in my shuttle version.
I'd like to know if there's a way, in stock game, to link the 3 shuttle "Vector" engines green power bar, when I move one of them.
In few words: I want to adjust manually the power of all the 3 engines at the same time.

No, as far as I know not in the stock game; even if they are placed in symmetry, the Thrust Limiter bar only affects the engine you have selected. There are however some mods that can help you handle your engines, for example the two below (I don't use them myself so I don't know if they do exactly what you are asking for, but it should be good enough either way).

I believe the common term for such a device is a 'throttle', and in stock (on PC) you can do it with Left-Ctrl for lower and Left-Shift for higher.

(you may be overthinking this?)

ty, but I have 2 fuel engines types and their throttle has to be different.
I think the best solution is the TCA mod, but it seems pretty complicated.
Maybe I'll try it someday. Or better I wait for the 13 march update hoping there will be bigger boosters.

If you are referring to the solid boosters (the pic is too small to distinguish anything other than the vectors and boosters): those cannot be throttled/limited in-flight anyway. You can only set the thrust limiter of boosters once - before using them; then it's fire and forget until they're either empty or (very riskily) decoupled prematurely.

Which means you can safely use the throttle for adjusting just the thrust of the three LFO Vectors - it won't have any effect at all on the boosters.

The problem is with OP's TwinBoars - if he throttles down on the Vectors, it will throttle down the TwinBoars at the same time.

I've had this problem too with some designs and not figured out a great workaround.  You could try turning off 1 or 2 of the Vectors via an action group, but that will probably mess with your center of thrust.

Ultimately, though, if you're cross-feeding fuel, you're probably better off throttling everything down together.  The Vectors are more efficient ISP-wise than the TwinBoars throughout ascent, so ideally you would want to be using the Vectors for as much thrust as you can.
