Stephen Hawking has passed away

Without question, the world has just a lost a visionary scientist and a good man...

He outlived his life expectancy by 50 years and made great contributions to the field of cosmology. Stephen Hawking will not soon nor ever be forgotten.

I just wish it didn't have to happen today.

I'll just leave this BT advert here, if you're not familiar with it I *highly* suggest you give it a watch, it's as poignant today as it was when they were airing it.

R.I.P.

A sad day..

I wish he lived long enough to witness the birth of the theory of everything but it wasn't to be.

Naming the theory after him once it's complete and proven would be the least we, the generations after him, could do to preserve his name for the rest of human history.

At least he had a good life. His doctor said he only had two years to live in 1963, and here's a picture of him floating around in a zero-gravity chamber in 2007. He looks so happy :)

I'm happy he made it to a normal age. Doctors gave him 2 years to live in 1963.

A shame we can't arrange to spread his ashes over a black hole.

Was thinking, his ashes should be at least sent into space if possible. I recall him saying that he always has wanted to go to space.

Clyde Tombaugh's was sent on New Horizons, are there any extrasolar-system mission in planning ? Preferrably one sent in the direction of Sagittarius...

It's amazing that he explored the universe in a wheelchair

RIP Stephen Hawking. May he live in the minds of all humankind.

As an additional sentence, may rocket science never fail you.
