Fuel flow close or equal to medium regional airliners, 900 passengers, price under 550 million credits.

That's still quite small, there are some on the queue with over 2000 passengers, however because of the extreme part count on these they are very difficult to review. I would advise to attempt to keep the part count under 500 parts, but lower is better, below 250 is great! For 250 parts you 'merely' need a 780ti with a 4th gen i7 to run the craft, which is doable for some of the reviewers. Beyond that only very few people have machines capable of handling such craft

Aerobus Industries announcement -  New Supersonic jet under testing

We are glad to announce that we have achieved making supersonic design capable of having range higher than 5,000 km, which can go almost hypersonic. Believe us or not, but this plane's weight is only 29.25 tonnes and its cost is under :funds: 32 million.

We are in final stage of testing - Landing performance. We are few hours away from releasing it into market. Maybe you will change way you will be designing planes.

See ya on market release of plane.

Since it will have been five months tomorrow since I posted my SI-XR-19 "HexWingMk2", and, as far as I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong), nobody has reviewed my plane, I figured I'd mention it. P.S. Its at the bottom of page three

It has not been forgotten. It is in the list just like the others, but we have not yet finished up everything from the old thread.

Presentation: E606 Kite.

Disclaimer, this aircraft is not currently for sale, and will be released to the public shortly.

Supersonic aircraft, tend to be poster aircraft, the face of an airline, often driving ticket sales, a passenger's dream, an economist's nightmare. Few SST's make money, even fewer generate meaningful profits. The Kite Project, which will use the E606 denomination in service, aims to change that. This highly optimised aircraft will help you on the way to monopolising the airline industry.

The E606 project was designed from the ground up to make money, featuring almost endless attributes aimed at increasing passenger yields and lowering operating costs. We believe this is the first aircraft Kerbal express Airlines can use a flagship money making machine for these reasons:

-Extremely long range makes it ideal for hub to hub trunk routes

-Extremely high speeds in the ballpark of 1500 m/s for more daily flights with less cycles.

-Extremely low fuel consumption in the region of 0.7 in the cruising bracket lowers the cost per flight to below that of non SST aircraft.

-High density cabin for increased pax count of 120 puts it on par with aircraft of comparable size and weight.

-Two engines instead of four, greatly reduces fuel consumption, weight and maintenance costs.

-Innovative nose and wing design allows the airframe to cope with higher temperatures for longer periods, reducing the number of airframe losses due to heating, reduces long term operating costs due to next of kin suing the company.

-Easy taxiing due to steering in the nose AND main landing gear.

-Reduced size with the use of the double barrel cabin setup allows use in smaller airports and gates.

To summarise, the E606 Kite is an extremely optimised aeroplane designed to make a maximum amount of money, due to its long range, high capacity and extremely low fuel costs. Our analysts predict a colossal 18% increase in daily flights on trunk routes, 43% decrease in ticket costs, putting an economy class ticket  on this SST at the cost of a premium economy ticket on a legacy aircraft, a 20% increase passenger yield leading to 17% more fully booked flights on said routes. Due to the Kite being four times faster than a comparable jumbo jet, trans continental routes like KSC-desert airfield can be served four or even six times a day compared to two.

This is THE aircraft for YOUR airline. Place your options today!

The makers of the E606 Kite refuse to acknowledge test pilot and engineer reports and testimony of extremely high fuel consumption during take-off to cruise periods, woeful low speed pitch sensitivity, excessively sensitive roll controls throughout the flight envelope. The makers of the E606 Kite also refuse to accept the existence of extremely slow take offs and potentially deadly climb outs and transitions from cruising at extremely high speeds and altitudes to medium speeds and altitudes. They also refuse to accept the danger of using yaw controls or developing a working auto pilot to remedy said problems.

Royal Aerospace: The C16-184-H "Box II"

H2airvk.png

The Box II is a stunning aircraft fit for all of your hopping needs. It's a supersonic, box-wing hopper capable of not just short-ranged hops, but long flights from both small airports in the bush and... well... small airports in the city. Its box-wing design helps it support such a large airframe in such a small space.

The Box II has a similar setup to our previous "Triad" aircraft, allowing a great view from any seat. The piloting facilities are top-notch; we even included a full cockpit this time, instead of stuffing one of them into a fuel tank!

Speed and altitude requirements are designed to be lax to fit your needs.

Happy flying!

Presenting GLADYS, K.R.A.S.S.H. INDUSTRIES bid for the Kerbal Express Airlines- Regional Jet Challenge.

Gladys is a 48  passenger & 2 crew very fast jet with a very good range.

K.R.A.S.S.H Industries knows the market. Kerbals are not a conservative lot by nature. They are explorers and adventures who shun the conventional.  If they are not thrill seekers how else can you explain that the only available seats on Kerbin for any craft, be it plane, rocket or hydrofoil comes only with 5-point harnesses. This is a safety tool for fighter jets and race cars, so naturally, we assume that if a passenger plane is to have the same gear, it should be put to good use!  We assume that Kerbals prefer a bit of thrill and want more than a steady ride and a soft landing.

We have delivered.

Not only is Gladys insanely fast, she is quite maneuverable.  And for extra fun, all four engines can be individually toggled for ultimate  performance or just thrilling your paying passengers with aerobatics. For more conservative airlines, the engines CAN be toggled for efficiency and the aircraft will happily go along at slower speeds with increased range. (but really, why?)

Once again, K.R.A.S.S.H. proves that outside the box is the only real place to be.

Gladys is named after Gladys Sandford, WWI ambulance driver, auto mechanice and the first woman in New Zealand to earn a pilot's licence.

The KonKorp Aircraft manufacturing Korporation has recently created it's first Supersonic airliner, The KonKorde! With its amazing speed and range, no airline can ignore this jet's magnificence!

The KonKorde: https://kerbalx.com/Kev1n828/KonKorde

https://ibb.co/cVha9p

The KonKorde is a modded Supersonic aircraft using Airplane Plus and Tweakscale. It flies faster than most stock fighter jets, at a low low price of 196,659,000 Funds!

This Splendid plane lifts off from the ground at just under 65 M/S and accelerates quickly to the speed of sound, due to it's 2 extremely overpowered scaled-up Panther jet engines. With the afterburners on, the KonKorde can perform Super Short Runway Takeoff. This allows you to use the plane even in remote airports.

The jet can easily reach Mach 1.5, and if you push it, it will go to Mach 3. Your kerbals will be at their destination in minutes! Regular cruising speed is around 800M/S, at an altitude of 10,000M. When over Mach 1.5, do not maneuver too aggressively,  as the high G-Forces will rip the plane apart. Try using precision control when flying at high speed. The proven range in 1500KM, but with a bit of fiddling with the throttle, you could get it to fly further.

The two huge jet engines are mounted on the wing, reasonable far from the passengers for maximum comfort while maintaining structural integrity. The plane can carry 96 kerbals with 3 pilots. The more kerbals, the more profit you get from the tickets! The revolutionary droop nose allows pilots to have a clear line of sight to the runway while maintaining aerodynamic stability when the nose is back in place. That means better control and obstacle avoidance when the nose is down, and better speed when the nose is back up.

Flying this plane is not very difficult at all. Just use SAS to keep your plane steady during supersonic flight, and dip down every so often as the jet has a tendency to tip back. This equals less pilot training, reducing costs.

Finally, the KonKorde has extraordinary safety records. It can ditch into any body of water and not lose a single part. Just fly close to the water with the brakes action group on and glide into the ocean. The engines beneath the wings can support the entire plane to let it float above the water. It can even lift off from the water again, due to the fact that our engines are made to float above the water, so the engine intakes will no be clogged with seaweed. With this safety precaution, kerbals will never have to worry about the plane falling out of the sky!

In summary, due to the extreme range, speed, control, capacity, and safety records, If you purchase the KonKorde, your airline will no doubt become the most profitable airline company on Kerbin!

Name: KonKorde

Cost: 196,659,000 Funds

Category: Supersonic Airliner

Cruising Speed: 800-900 M/S

Max Speed: 1000 M/S

Liftoff Speed: 65 M/S

Stall Speed: 35 M/S

Cruising Altitude: 10,000-11,000 M

I wonder if I can make an STOL super jumbo...

Probably. I managed to make an aircraft that can carry 7424 passengers according to this thread. Over 9 times the amount that is required for a super jumbo.

Might try a biplane or even triplane design this time.

Damn it, was prepared to write a proposal and then I re-read the requirements and that the maximum take off speed is 80m/s, while my plane would've required 160-200m/s take off speed, now I have to figure out how to reduce it by half (probably will be kind of hard given its size)

Size should really not be a huge issue for takeoff speed. Pretty much all of the biggest submissions so far take off around 50m/s. There are a few things you can do to lower the takeoff speed. Make sure the main gear is not to far behind the CG, so that it can pivot easily (but not so much that it tips over). Make sure you have enough wing area, and make sure you have a slightly positive angle of incidence (2-5 degrees is usually good). And make sure you have enough tail clearance to pivot ~8-10 degrees.

Yeah thanks for the suggestion, it now is much more easier to take off, might've moved the angle too much

Kerbal Inc. Sonic aviation is proud to present: The Sonic Kerman:

V48l3xL.png

TQfDYpv.png

The Sonic Kerman can seat 40 passengers comfortably in its 5 crew cabins, and is one of the largest airplanes on the market with the wings. The wings are swept to decrease the drag caused by the sonic boom and decrease its noise on the passengers. Due to the wings being inherently prone to falling off, steel struts are added on between the wings to connect them to each other, increasing the price. Although it has a price that may seem like a lot, it does well in its required categories:

  • Range of at least 1500km: our personal estimates have put it at around 5129km (W/O Afterburner), Over 1506 (With Afterburner): Better than needed!
  • Cruising Speed of at least 340 m/s: Max speed is over 851 m/s, cruising speed can be over 750m/s: More than needed!
  • At minimum 40 Passengers: can carry 40 passengers: As needed!

Some may say that the part number of 122 parts may be expensive to maintain, as it costs 74,643,000, but it is long-ranged, fast and the seats have lots of room with people being able to have the seats up to 170 degrees and the journey is quick

It is stable, but relatively difficult to maneuver and especially above 1 Mach, the controls especially rotation is a bit finicky.

It is meant to be flown in between 11000 and 17500 meters at a speed of 500-900 m/s, the best range is with the afterburner turned off at the cost of slower speed. The afterburner is needed above 14.2-14.5km. The range were measured at around 15km for Afterburner and around 12km without afterburner

@Kebab Kerman The last review was more than a month ago, so it seems like either this is dead or everyone (including the people testing the airplanes) forgot about this.

@neistridlar, @CrazyJebGuy Can any of you confirm?

Is the thread dead or something? There hasn't been any activity for a while. Yes, I know it's only been five days, but still...

It has indeed been quite quiet lately. I have not forgotten, I just can't make my self do any reviews at the moment. Also there has been some effort made behind the scenes to standardize and simplify the reviewing process, so it is possible some of the judges are waiting for that to be completed.

It's a combination of things for me. There's that, and my Jool-5 run that took a lot longer than expected, and a family emergency I had to deal with, and just life in general.

@CrazyJebGuy I made a super jumbo in stock that carries 1050 Kerbals. It can also land, taxi on water and takeoff and land at 70 m/s and stays intact when driving over hills.

It only doesn't qualify the recommended range. I only have a range of 1650 Km while weighing just under 1000 tons.

I'm gonna try to redesign it so it can do 4500km.

I have a complaint about the rule though.

A aircraft is supposed to get anywhere on the globe. In kerbins case 4500km gets you anywhere thrice over.
Also, it isn't a super jumbo that has the highest range in real life. The 777-200 has that and isn't a super jumbo.

So why that rule then? Isn't it better to lower it because it makes little sense IMHO. In real life the fuel economy is much better so a 4500km range aircraft in ksp would have over extended range in the real world and that makes very little sense to me. One piece of logic for airline economy is that it doesn't carry what it doesn't need. So fuel it never uses is a waste and you would never need a range of 4500km for that reason.

Even if you don't agree I hope you see my point.

Can I still submit anyway?

@Aeroboi You can submit whatever you want. It just won't be getting a favourable review if it does not meet the criteria.

With regards to the rangerequirements being rediculus, at kerbin-scale, yes it is. IRL 4.000km is not very much though. A quick search suggests the 777 200ER has a range of over 14.000km, and the new 737 max 8 IIRC has something like 5.000km range. Also consider that jet engines in ksp have ISP almost twice as good as their real life counterparts, which goes a long way in making up the higher drag in ksp.

Also consider this challenge has been going for quite some time now, so changing the rules at this point would not be fair.

And besides, if you have an efficient design 4000km is not too hard to reach.
