LinuxGuruGamer Mod Statuses in 1.4.2

Recommended Posts

Revisited it, it's fine; sorry, didn't mean to cause an alarm.

Edit: I did not test that one thoroughly enough. Sorry again.

Minor note, Bargain Rocket Parts didn't show technology buy costs on the BBQ Cores. Forgot to note that.

KRASH seems to be not working at all (no button in the VAB to run simulations). Just FYI

I ran into this too, but in my case it was because I hadn't installed click-through blocker and toolbar controller, which are dependencies as of 1.4.1 update.

HOWEVER, that said, when I tried it after patching to 1.4.2 last night, after exiting the simulation and VAB, KSP still seemed to think it was in sim mode and wouldn't let me save "in this scenario."  I didn't have time to test extensively last night, though-- will give it a more thorough look this evening.

Huh strange. I did a 1:1 copy of my entire GameData folder that should not have happened.

Either way though, ignore my previous post sorry LGG - obviously something went wrong on the copy at my end.

Strike that.   On a closer inspection, the specific (mis)behavior I am observing appears to be linked to KAC/Kerbal Alarm Clock, rather than KRASH.

That said, I provide this section of my log in case there's anything of value in there.  (I don't speak this language...)

Hello linuxgurugamer,

first of all let me express a huge Thank You from the bottom of my heart for keeping such an enormous amount of "essential" mods alive and updated! I only have one simple mod that I need to take care of, but as a father of a 2-year old and having a fulltime job I know how hard it can be to find time to sit down and update a mod when a new KSP version is released!

Having said that, there are 2 small issues I would like to report:

1) CorrectCoL only shows up when entering the  SPH. It continues to be available when using the new switch to go into the VAB. When entering the VAB it is not available, even when switching to the SPH.

2) RCS Build Aid and CorrectCol both complain about unsupported KSP version on KSP 1.4.2 (+MH), even after manually changing the KSP version in their respective .version files to 1.4.2. In the log I find this:

[LOG 14:41:47.860] MiniAVC -> Identical remote version found: Using remote version information only.
[LOG 14:41:47.860] MiniAVC -> https://raw.githubusercontent.com/linuxgurugamer/CorrectCoL/master/CorrectCoL.version
	NAME: CorrectCOL
	URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/linuxgurugamer/CorrectCoL/master/CorrectCoL.version
	DOWNLOAD: https://github.com/linuxgurugamer/CorrectCoL/releases
	GITHUB: linuxgurugamer/CorrectCoL
		LatestRelease: 1.6.4
		AllowPreRelease: False
	VERSION: 1.6.4
	KSP_VERSION: 1.4.1
	KSP_VERSION_MIN: NULL
	KSP_VERSION_MAX: NULL
	CompatibleKspVersion: False
	CompatibleKspVersionMin: True
	CompatibleKspVersionMax: True
	CompatibleGitHubVersion: True

If I understand this correctly, the local version file is overridden by the remote one? In any case: both plugins seem to load and work anyway.

non-issue: I just realized that you introduced new hard dependencies (click through blocker and toolbar manager) to some/most of your mods with KSP 1.4.1 and clearly and boldly stated this in the OP of your mod threads. However, you would have saved me a few days of trying to get them to work, if you had also put a note about this on their respective SpaceDock pages...:D

The lastone is not meant as a complaint. It is just a combination of a few unfortunate things coming together:
* me having skipped KSP 1.3.0 - 1.4.1 completely in my career. I have only now switched from 1.2.2 to 1.4.2 (when you hardly ever have time to play you don't want to update mods, so you stay at the working version...).
* me not checking the forum or github right away when encountering issues.
* The not so easy task of keeping up to date with mods outside of SpaceDock (imho).
* SpaceDock not having a "dependency" property for mods, or something like this.
* etc.

Maybe a mod similar to MinAVC that instead of the KSP version checks for the presence of dependencies would be really helpful.
Can't expect you to take on another project, so maybe someone else has the time to do this. I might even try to come up with something like that myself, if I can find the time to do so.

Best regards, Aerospike

Thanks for reporting, but this is going to be a harder thing to fix.  Keep in mind that the ability to switch between the VAB and SPH is brand new, and no mod had code to detect where it was AFTER the editor had been entered.

That being said, I'm going to leave it for now, on the basis that you may want to switch between the editor scenes for editing purposes, so that the first editor scene you enter is the one which will be most relevant.

This is the way that KSP-AVC and MiniAVC have been working for years.  I am working on a way to have a local override, but that's not available yet.  Best I can say is to either ignore it, or one of the two following:

  1. Remove the .version file which is bothering you
  2. Remove KSP-AVC and all the MiniAVC.dlls which are giving the message (mod available called ZeroAVC will do that for you).

I can't do everything, and be everywhere, sorry.  I update the OP and the .version, and I keep my spreadsheet up-to-date.  Spacedock is a distribution point, not the point of information on the mod, for that you need to go back to the forum.

Not really doable.  This is why I like CKAN, it takes care of that automatically (most of the time)

  • 2 weeks later...

Moving to Add-on Development.

(Rationale:  Plug-in Development Help and Support is for questions and answers about how to write code for KSP mods, e.g. "Hey, I want the game to <do thing>, how do I do that?"  If a thread's about the development of a specific mod, e.g. for the mod author to provide updates, then it belongs in Add-on Development; that's what that forum is for.)
