Equivalent pressure question.

Recommended Posts

What pressure altitude does 15km ASL on Kerbin equate to on Duna?  Does anyone know of a table or a really, really simple equation where I can can look up/calculate this myself?  Mostly interested in altitudes below 10km ASL on Duna.

To answer your original question...

This is the simplest equation I could come up with to directly translate Duna altitude to Kerbin altitude:

AK=-5600ln[e(-AD/5700)/15]

Where

AK= Kerbin altitude in meters and
AD= Duna altitude in meters

It's not actually this direct, since the pressure altitudes of both planets vary and density varies with temperature.

According to this, sea level Duna pressure is equivalent to 15,165m on Kerbin.

Sorry, I know it's not as simple as you wanted.

Yes, look in the KSP Wiki (link at the top of the forum).  Each planet has a table that gives pressure vs. altitude.

After running the numbers in a spreadsheet, I came up with a *much* simpler equation:

AK=AD+15 km

Equivalent Kerbin altitude is 15km above Duna altitude. Duna sea level = Kerbin 15km. Duna 10 km= Kerbin 25 km, and so forth.

Not precisely correct, but close enough.
