Save file editing stuff to Kerbal inventories

So my problem is that Kraken destroyed stuff from my rover. I'm using KIS/KAS so I thought that I could save file edit the lost part to the personal inventory of my engineer kerbal. After long good looks to the save files, this seems to be more complicated matter than I thought. Is there tutorials or something to this kind of save file editing? I would like to put Z-1k Rechargeable Battery Bank to my kerbals inventory.

I don't remember the proper structure - but:

What I would do is launch a vessel that's nothing more than an MK1 pod, a kerbal, and that battery in the kerbal's inventory.  EVA out just to be sure, then save.  Go into that save file, find that kerbal, and that will show you exactly what you need to copy over to the kerbal that needs the battery.

Just make sure you keep backups of the save in case you muck it up.
