please.. how to transfer purchase to steam?

Recommended Posts

Go to the KSP store, login and go to your account and there should be a "Transfer Purchase" button next to the download button. But I've never gone beyond that step as I'm quite happy with having it via the store (and the store is much more stable than it was back when you bought it).

I'm not sure if you can do that anymore, but I could be wrong. Wasn't that an option only for a short while after the game got released on steam?

I believe you are right.  I think that offered expired a few years ago.

or am i screwed?

I actually see not having KSP on steam being a good thing.   I really don't want to know how many hours I've put into it over the last 6 years.

It's in the FAQ.

I bought the game on the KSP Store, but I want it on Steam. Will you give me a Steam Key?

In general no. The option to transfer KSP Store licenses to Steam is only available for those who bought KSP before it originally came out on Steam, March 20th 2013. Note that if you do qualify for a transfer and choose to do it, the process is OPTIONAL and IRREVERSIBLE. If you transfer your purchase to Steam, you will no longer be able to download or update the game from the KSP Store. To move to Steam, log in to your KSP Store profile and you will find the button to start the process next to your download link. If you can’t see the button in your profile it means you purchased the game after it was on Steam and you are not eligible, no exceptions, please don’t insist.

My wife and I have family sharing set up on Steam, I definitely don't want her knowing how many hours I've put in to KSP over the years :D

There is a very easy workaround for that ehm... 'issue' ;)

Just add KSP as a 'non-steam game' to Steam. That way the hours won't get counted, but you can still use steam functions like steam overlay or in-house streaming. Don't know if family sharing is an option though, but it could be worth a try.

Moving to Kerbal Network.

Well, it only counts the hours if you actually start the game via Steam.  If you just launch it normally like any other .exe by double-clicking on it directly from the OS, it just launches and Steam has no idea about it and won't track anything.

Easiest to just create a shortcut to ksp_x64.exe (probably in x:\steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program   where x is the drive steam is installed on), no game hours count (though your previous count stays, no idea if steam has a way to reset to 0, be nice if it did ;) ). This also avoids accidently starting in 32 bit mode.

Your other option is just say you forget and left KSP running in the background for a few months ;).
