Don't forget that rodents and primates are closest relatives (well, hedgehogs and shrews also), we also live in labyrinths, climb on branches, take things with hands, speak. Not because both of us got used to do this in the same way, but just because we do all of this since we were the same species.. Look, how a fly tries to get out through a window, when the opened part is just in several centimeters aside. Or how it repeatedly tries to sit on the same place while you are trying to frighten it. A rather simple algorithm for an expendable single-use unit. It just doesn't have a conditional exit from endless loop. It's cheaper to keep bombing the same glass with the fly until it dies, rather than develop a complicated homing one.
