Stock music or personal playlist?

Nobody can listen to the stock music for more than 2 or 3 sessions.  Its "okay", but there's only about a minute of it in toto, after which it will begin to loop and grate.

This is not the first time I've been told I don't exist...

But as a generic playlist recommendation, the Fiechter brothers make some great music and they compile them into hour-long themed reels.

First thing I do in pretty much any game is mute the music.

I'm not judging but man, you've probably missed some excellent soundtracks doing that.

Though I have no idea which games you played so.

For me the stock music is a reminder that I've not copied my settings.cfg over from my previous install over yet.
My only sadness about always muting the stock music is it also kills the birds in the space center view. Can we have a seperate "bird-volume" slider?

I usually play KSP without any music, sometimes I watch random things on another device.  Partly because (in the days when I made vids) I didn't want other sounds when recording, but now it's more because I just like the silence of space (interrupted only by the roar of my engines,...... or horrific crashing sounds).

When launching and tweaking my circularisation maneouver node I find the stock 'tinkly' into space music a useful audible clue to when my ship is out of atmosphere.

You know, I doubt I'd dislike the orbit music if it ever stopped while in orbit.  It is a good clue to a transition, and I actually liked it at first.  But the more time I spent in space the more it started to wear.  And the elevator music in the VAB can just leave for good as far as I'm concerned.

What if the music only played after an orbital translation or COI change, and didn't loop?

That sounds really nice actually.  A short musical sting of some sort, differing depending on location.  I wonder how much the music can be config-modded.

I'm probably in the minority of minorities but I'd probably not like that, considering how much the same effect used to bug me when playing World of Warcraft - the music would stop and then I'd get this nagging sense that something was missing until I figured out what it was.

Incidentally, world of Warcraft has a "loop music continuously?" switch in the settings. This, I would support. Options are always good.

Although, I could also get behind adding more tracks, since the same one over and over can get obnoxious - this was my main gripe with Elder Scrolls Online compared to WoW on the soundtrack front.

Thats actually a really good idea. I can just imagine landing SSTOs at the KSC with this in the background.

Stellardrone on Soundcloud makes great space music, especially fitting when you are using KSPI or Far Future Tech stuff.

There is this mod called Soundtrack Editor that I would use but its not up to date :(
