Question

How to change defalt fuel tank colour? (i.e. the colour shown in VAB menu) I tried searching fir it but all requires mods...

Only some of the tanks have a texture swapping ability.  You will see it at the bottom of the part action window in the VAB or SPH.  Check the 2.5m Rockomax tanks.

 

Edit:   Wait, you mean how to change the color of the actual menu icon itself?  2 ways.   You can either click the small half-white teardrop shape in the corner of the icon to cycle through the available variants, or go to the Advanced Mode and choose from the list of Variant Themes.  The latter method will change all the parts that have that particular theme you clicked to display their icon with that theme in the parts menu.

The "Black and White" texture on the new tanks is supposed to match the "old" textures pretty closely.

X200-8 and X200-16.

 

I want them to be "plain white" instead of the black and white lol

Technically you can, but you need to do a little modding. It's not something that you can just switch on and off in the stock version.

Its like im building rockets and them vam! My default colour in the VAB of a fuel tank has changed.

Also happens to wolfhound shround.
