32 Bit Version Of KSP?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I have (probably a stupid) question to make, why is my KSP 32 bit though I have a 64 bit Computer?

This is frustrating me as I can't use my full 8GB of RAM for mods... Only 3.5GB... I think it might be a reason why when I have multiple mods installed (only about 3) The game would crash... Also what makes me wonder this question is that on my older, much slower computer I used to play KSP on it was a 64 bit version of KSP. Is there a way to change to 32 bit? Or am I missing something and it is really 64 Bit?

I had no choice when downloading and installing to have this be a 64 bit version.

You can check your RAM use during play, and I think you can even check RAM used by specific programs. So load up KSP and do something as memory intensive as possible, and see how much RAM is in use. Definitely not the easiest way, but it would confirm if it's 64 or 32 bit.

Or just open the task manager and check the running processes for "KSP_64x.exe" or "KSP.exe", but using the first option shown in the OP screenshot will always start the 64bit version.

Using task manager was what I was referring to. Or trying to refer to...

I'm a little confused as to what's going on here, but if you look at the bottom right corner of the main menu, it will show you the version you are actually running (not the version you think you are running).  If your OS and KSP are both 64 bit, then you shouldn't bee running out of RAM at 3.5gb.

Did this, and for the default option on the top, it says WindowsPlayer x64 and for the 32 bit option it just says WindowsPlayer.

Also thanks everyone for your help!
