Well, Hayabusa 2 has reported in, safe and sound. Data is being downlinked to Hayabusa from DCAM 3, and images are expected mid afternoon of 5 April, Japan time.

As cool as this is as basic science (how the solar system developed), it's also some of our first prospecting (OSIRIS-REx, too). Asteroids are our likely path to a post scarcity Earth (I'm with Bezos on this one). Cool times.

It safely reentered the Earth atmosphere and landed in Australia. The sample container was recovered and seems to be in good condition.
