For the dough:
Flour - 7 Tbs
Baking powder - 1 Tsp
Brown sugar - 1 Tbs
Vegetable oil - 2 Tsp

For the coating:
Brown sugar - 5 Tbs
Pinch of salt

Vegetable oil for deep frying

Prep.
1. Add the flour to the baking powder. Mix, then put it through a sieve into another bowl. In a separate bowl, mix your brown sugar with 3 Tbs of hot water. stir in the vegetable oil and add the flour and baking powder. Use a spatula to mix the dough, then knead by hand for two minutes. Wrap the dough in plastic, and let it sit for ten minutes.

2. Sprinkle a chopping board with some flour, and use your hands to press the dough to about a 1/2 in. thick rectangle. Then, use a rolling pin to bring it to about a 1/4 in. thick. Cut it into strips about 3 in. by 1/4 in.

3. Put about 1 1/2 in. of vegetable oil in a pot or pan, and bring it to a oil around 375 F. Fry for 3 - 4 minutes.

4. Place the brown sugar for the coating into a pan, along with 4 tbs of water and a pinch of salt. Simmer for 1 - 2 minutes until the mixture is syrupy, shaking the pan as you go.

5. Turn off the heat and add sticks of fried dough, coating them with syrup. Finally, return the pan to heat and simmer until the liquid has boiled off.
