Controls suddenly locked

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm quite new to Kerbal Space Program and as a typical way to familiarise the game, I decided to play through the whole tutorials. I am currently stuck on training how to dock, unfortunately, there is a roadblock that I keep encountering. That is, my controls keep locking where I can do basically nothing and be dead in space like the stranded ship I am saving, however, I can change camera and goto map view. Can anyone explain to me if this is a bug or a game mechanic?

I am becoming quite petulant with the tutorial and without mastering it, then it will probably bother me later in the campaign.

Welcome to the forums.

My guess is that you are probably running out of electricity.

Beyond that -- the last tutorials are meant for more advanced players, not beginners. You don't need to do all of them before starting to actually play the game. If you have gotten to the docking tutorial, then you've probably gone far enough to play the game for several months before you need to look at the tutorials again.

Well, that clears up a bit. I only believed these tutorials were the stepping stone to prepare for the bigger missions out there since all these tutorials were near proximity of the home planet's orbit. Honestly, your guess is most probably correct, and if that is, then holy crap - the time frame to dock before power runs out. I at least tried to do it around 30 different times where I found more efficient ways to complete it, however, I did not place electricity into the variable.

As this might come up in some searches, there is also the slight possibility your input controls are becoming locked.   Hit Alt-f12, find the input locks tab, and hit "clear input locks".   If you are playing a stock game, this will very rarely, if ever, happen;  it usually requires mods to occur.

But as newer player, Bewing is probably right, you're outa juice.

Since you're docking, instead of running out of electricity, are you running out of monoprop?

I had plenty of that, I finally concluded that it was my controls locking out and had to clear input locks.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but THANK YOU for the clear input lock.

Not a problem!   I vaguely remember posting this because of the amount of searching I had to do to find the same answer.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
