Aircraft that doubles as base jumping platform

Recommended Posts

K.R.A.S.S.H. Industries newest creation, Alice.  A survey plane that doubles as  a base jumping platform (see video). In fact, most crew prefer chutes to taking the ladders....

It's up on KerbalX.

But... doesn't the term "Base jumping" imply that the jump is performed from the ground or from a fixed structure?

It's not moving, and it is their "base" away from home. :)

Actually BASE is an acronym...  Buildings, Antennas, Spans, and Earth

So, I guess base jumping could be jumping off of a base?  Kerbals do seem to enjoy play-on-words humor.   Speaking of humor, it just dawned on me why they used the word "Spans" instead of "Bridges" in that acronym.  LOL!

I think Bob thought, "hmm, BASE=Big Airplane Sounds Exciting," and got ideas... In his keeness to jump, however, you will notice he knocked his co-pilot out of his seat. His chute did not open, but Kerbals do seem to survive long falls...

I have a rover that Jeb calls "Lifty McCrane" that would make for a good jumping platform!   ...kinda has it's own elevator too.  Not a stock design though, uses KAS winches.
