Lucky skunk! I applied too, guess I knew who beat out my application. Well I know it went to a good alternative!

Did you? Oh, I'm sorry... Now I feel kinda weird... I'm glad I got it, yeah, but a little bummed now to know I beat out a forum-friend to get it.

Just put in a good word for me with the rest of the team so when I try next time I have a bit of help :) and I would call us even ;) .

In all seriousness though, you've earned a MASSIVE gig, I wouldn't want to ruin it. Congratulations and I hope nothing but the best for you.

Thanks. :)

I can't really talk about what I'm doing... I'm seriously NDA'd now, and don't honestly know what's safe to say and what isn't about the job itself.

But I think I can safely say hardest thing to get my head wrapped around so far has been working around people I've kinda privately idolized for a couple years now... They're all super nice, and just normal folk like everyone else... but at the same time... :0.0:

I know that struggle.

That would definitely be my reaction! Hell I'd appreciate being a volunteer for em, but hey, all I can do is put my interest and my name out there and hope they see :) .

So, @Just Jim, serious question here, as long as it’s not verboten.  Who do you actually work for? Is it SQUAD or TakeTwo? If it’s the former, are there any unusual tax situations since it’s not a US employer? It’s fascinating to me how Squad has all these employees who’ve never actually been in the same building together.

I've occasionally thought about applying for the art posts given my extensive experience of games art/management, added to the enjoyment I've got out of the game. But then thought I might be blurring my career and the things I do for fun. Additionally the art posts might have to be on-site, which would require a move half way round the world from my current location.

Given what you've said, it looks like this is going to be a remote working deal, which is something I've had a fair amount of experience of. It can be a bit difficult to get used to, but ultimately it can be a good way to work (my time at Nvidia etc. doing that went well) so all the best with that. As long as you're self motivated and self disciplined it should work out fine.

Don't sweat it about the NDA's... signed enough of them/had people sign them in my time... it'll all be good in the end.

Congrats on the new job Jim!.

It is a little weird having my cat constantly trying to jump on my lap when I'm trying to work, I have to admit.

I know. What I meant is there are some things I absolutely will not talk about... nothing anyone can say or do to change that. But as far as my job description, and what I do now... honestly I'm just not really sure what's allowed. So I'm erring on the side of caution.

Forget what, the forum? Oh, never!!!

I may not have as much time to comment on everything as I had, but I spend most all my free time here... it's one of the few sane places left on the internet!  :D

Now that you're all famous and stuff, be careful that you don't get into any drunken bar fights, get caught with any ladies of the evening or ingestibles manufactured in a basement laboratory!

This ain't Congress! :D

Well, now I have to watch Serenity again. But of course I can't skip to the end of the story so now I have to watch Firefly again first. :/

Haha... Yeah, that's how I feel, too. Drives my family nuts. I hate it when a television station plays episodes of shows out of order... and I've watched the show enough to know that.

Hehehe... Yup. Painted a big ol' target on my back this time... lol...:sticktongue:

@Just Jim there is an easy way to deal with this, refuse to produce any more Emiko.

All complaints of Jim why did you not fix.....

[TARGET LOST]

[REFUSING TO RE-AQUIRE TARGET]

[I NEED MORE EMIKO]

[I WILL NOT, I WILL NOT, NOPE, NOPE]

Would disappear in an instant, guaranteed........
