Way Out of Grissom Crater, Tylo

Recommended Posts

I have a mobile base on Tylo, which landed right in the middle of Grissom Crater. Actually it landed in an unnamed crater, which became Grissom Crater with a recent patch. Anyway the base has nearly depleted its science and I'm trying to get out of the crater to get more, but the walls of the crater are quite steep. I know the tricks of driving up a steep incline, but I don't suppose anyone knows of an easier way out of the crater? I'm currently driving toward the southern rim.

Short and blunt version: No.

Long version: My exploration of Tylo as consisted of almost definitely less than 20 Kerbals.

Spoiler

Jool Expedition 1 - 2 Kerbals.

Project Intrepid ITV-011 Creativity Tylo Army 1-5 - 8 Kerbals.

KSP Speedrun 1 - 1 Kerbal.

KSP Speedrun 2 - 1 Kerbal.

Yup. 12 Kerbals unless I'm forgetting something. Of those, only one Kerbal did any significant roving and the rover was poorly designed so he only roved 20 kilometers. He was in a crater but I don't know which one.

So what I'm saying is I doubt anyone in the history of KSP has ever explored Grissom crater to that extent, the most maybe being for the biome hopper challenge. You're probably the world's leading expert on Grissom Crater right now. You're going where no one has gone before. So while I can't help you, I would like to say good luck, and ask that you report back with your findings!

How steep are the walls?
