RSS Crashes before starting

Recommended Posts

I've tried this a few times now, and it completely loads (Not to the main menu, right before) before I get a crash report. The first time, I realized for forgot to opt out of beta, and update Kopernicus. So I uninstalled/reinstalled, and downloaded everything needed for RSS. I've already checked, and everything was both installed and placed correctly, but it won't start.

I've installed

Kopernicus Planetary modifier (Latest) https://github.com/Kopernicus/Kopernicus/releases/tag/release-1.4.5-4

Module manager (It immediately greets you with a download option) (I can't make any more paragraphs, it keeps deleting when I try, what is up with the forum software?) KSC switcher (Latest) https://github.com/KSP-RO/KSCSwitcher/releases

RSS DateTime https://github.com/KSP-RO/RSSTimeFormatter/releases (Latest). RSS itself https://github.com/KSP-RO/RealSolarSystem/releases/tag/v14.0.0 (Latest),. And the texture pack https://github.com/KSP-RO/RSS-Textures/releases/tag/v13.1 2K version. It's in 1.3.x though. But I don't know if it's necessary to have. I have no other mods.

Hopefully, this is right, I haven't done this before.

No one can wish for more informations in a OP, that's how a proper support request should look like all the time :)

To the topic:

First of all: your output_log doesn't fit to your error.log. That's a common problem since the location for the output_log changed in KSP 1.4. and the new location is in your userprofile folder: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Squad\Kerbal Space Program\

Your error.log shows a crash of the mono.dll which usually indicates a wrong mod version but without the correct output_log, I cannot tell you any details. The linked mod versions are looking fine but sometimes it is just a minor detail you may have missed.

TL;DR: Please upload the correct output_log :)

Ah, I have to figure that out later :/ I'm about to go out... It also took me a good 20 minutes just to find the file folder to get to dropbox, so this will be fuuuun....

This? I uploaded each individually (crash.dmp, error, output_log) to Dropbox, then copied it here.

Huh? Why is there an output_log in your crash folder :o Probably something new in 1.4.4 or 1.4.5, I have no idea if this is a copy of the right one, but usually the correct output_log is located direct    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Squad\Kerbal Space Program\output_log.txt      <- here^^
(In the same folder where the 'Crashes' and 'Unity' folders are located)

Look at the date/time stamp, it doesn't match the crash files, so he obviously copied it there.

Well, I just checked my crash folders and in my latest one (crash of 1.4.5) is also an output_log.txt with a different time stamp (1 month difference) and I didn't copy the log there...

Alright, give me a sec, and I'll edit this post with the correct link :)

Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6r5gnxfqpu3y6v3/output_log.txt?dl=0

I have the sneaking suspicion it just replaced the file for output_log, since it said, "8 hrs ago" and changed to "just now" so hopefully it's correct, if not I'll delete and try again.

Or this one?

Both are 'v14.0' so I'm a bit confused here^^

Theysen's version. And I have all the dependencies listed. I didn't know there were 2 versions...

The other is not recommend to use....

Back to your issue:

Your game crashes while running kopernicus but I don't think kopernicus is actually the reason. Something is messed up in your ksp install...

This is your GameData folder:

Folders and files in GameData:
Kopernicus
KSCSwitcher
ModularFlightIntegrator
Stock folder: PluginData

RealSolarSystem
RSS-Textures
RSSDateTime
Settings
Sigma
Sounds
Stock folder: Squad

Textures
Stock file: .DS_Store

ModuleManager.3.0.4.dll
ModuleManager.3.0.6.dll
ModuleManager.3.0.7.dll
ModuleManager.ConfigCache
ModuleManager.ConfigSHA
ModuleManager.Physics
ModuleManager.TechTree
ModuleManagerLicense.md
README.md
WBIPlayMode.cfg

And this is how it should be:

Folders and files in GameData:
Kopernicus
KSCSwitcher
ModularFlightIntegrator
RealSolarSystem
RSS-Textures
RSSDateTime
Stock folder: Squad

ModuleManager.3.0.7.dll

You got several folders which are not related to any of the mods you have listed in your OP: PluginData, Settings, Sigma, Sounds, Textures, .DS_Store and WBIPlayMode.cfg.

ModuleManager 3.0.4 and 3.0.6 are not necassary but the will not be loaded anyway.

Did you install some other mods before you switched to this setup?

Er, yeah, but I thought I got them all. So delete those from GameData, and I should be good?

Probably, yes...or you mess it up even more :D If deleting these folder doesn't help, I would suggest to do a clean reinstall of the game.

Alright, fingers crossed then. I'll do that, and then update if it works XD I'll probably do a small rocket test to be sure if it does. Be right back.

IT WORKS!!!! Thank you so much :D https://imgur.com/a/arUtErB

Now I need to figure out how to get to the Moon, that inclination is.... something else.

It kinda froze at the end. Like it loaded, but nothing happened for a minute, then it went to the main menu, so I was worried, but it worked!

Glad to hear :)

You may have to install some other mods to actually reach orbit and the moon...the dV requirements are pretty tough.

Yeah, I have a small list of those. Near Future Launch vehicles and SpaceY for a couple.
