Explorer: An Extended Grand Tour

WHAT'S NEW? - I added part 6

After over two years of development, testing, failure, and rebounding, I am proud to finally show off my grand tour of Kerbal Space Program. This is an extended grand tour, so in addition to the stock planets and moons, I also hit up some planet packs. It took about 2-3 months to complete, and one of the most difficult things about it was launching all the fuel I would need in one go, as this was one single launch. In the end I didn't return to Kerbin as I still have lots of fuel left and plan on traveling to more planet packs in the future with this same mission.

Basic Mission Profile

- Launch

- Separate craft into main hub and two fuel reserves, keep launch stage in orbit to use it's fuel if needed.

- Decide to keep Hub attached to one of the fuel reserves

- Land everywhere

PART 1 - Stock System and Outer Planets (33 landings)

Planets and Moons visited:

- Stock planets

- All OPM moons/ planets (by @Galileo)

- The Spud Moon mod (by @MrChumley)

- The More Gas Giants Mod (by @Alaygrounds)

- The Apollo System Mod (by hihowareya)

To everyone who made these planets, thank you for making the ride more interesting.

Gonna have to watch this at some point.

Keep us posted as to the other voyages.....

Sure thing, this will probably turn into one of those saga threads just without a story. In part two I will probably just visit a few more gas giants. The issue is finding planet packs that still work for this version that aren't OPM.

Good job on the mission! Is there any chance of you releasing a craft file? Also, what version was this on?

Thanks!

I think it originally launched on 1.5 or 1.6, although I'm not completely sure. At the moment I don't plan on releasing a craft file.

Awesome!

Thank you for planting that flag on Phybi and Izmi!

Thank you for making them! They were definitely the best made worlds I visited in part 3 in terms of surface visuals.

My gawd... sir, you have my kudos. 77 bodies... no refueling... how much planning did this TAKE?!?

Including failed iterations I didn't end up using, about 2 years. :)

I need to ask...

How long in ingame time did all this take?

I honestly have no idea. For part 1, I did two landings per day, each took a few hours. For everything after that it's up in the air. I suppose I could add up all the time on the raw footage and get a rough estimate, but that would take ages.

What I can say definitively is that I redesigned this mission and even restarted it over the course of 2 years, up until the first video was finished. It was a long time in the making. :D

Thanks for the answer, but that's not what I meant, I guess I asked the wrong way. What I mean is how many years in kerbal time have passed since you started in the save. What does the clock say at the end?

I have to add, I'm thoroughly impressed with your videos. I can't fathom doing something like that in my wildest dreams. My greatest kudos to you pulling that off. I'm very, very humbled by your dedication and preparation.

Are you considering doing a Duna Moons grand tour? This could probably use XPC Duna moons (Nyke and Duna rings), Stock Planet Expansion (Smov/Prolla), Revamped Stock Solar System (Rimos), etc.

If you're curious what Revamped Stock Solar System is, it's this:
