Sedna Usurped

Just realized, Sedna was already usurped.... but whatever, its still a cool new discovery, and this survey was not biased. The apparent clustering is greater, and the idea that the apparent clustering is the result of a sampling bias is much weaker.

I still wonder if planet 9 is real, or if the clustering is the result of some transient, relatively massive, visitor from long ago.

There was a publication where they did the math to find out if a single encounter could have caused the uproar under the KBOs. The outcome was that the probability is terribly low iirc. The study may be linked over in the Plant 9 thread ...

Pretty much all of these objects are discovered near their perihelion. If planet 9 is out there, it's going to be much farther away.

It's suggestive, but not conclusive of Planet 9. Still a neat object, and apparently stable for some amusing solar system configurations. The paper is on ArXiv, and remarkably readable.

There's a decent amount of sky left to search.
