Hello! I have built many craft with Mk1 sized parts, but I find it annoying how there is a Mk2 Drone Core, and yet nothing for Mk1. Sure, we have the CH-J3, but that is not capable of controlling a craft. I suggest a Mk1 drone core, maybe it could be a long nosecone, or like the Mk1 cockpit but with the windows covered and replaced with wires or panels. Thoughts about this?

What about an early-game one then. Something before you get to the mid and high-end tech tree

The Stayputnik is as early as you'll get a core, tech level 4; one could argue its cross-section is more Mk1 than Mk0, despite the size of its attachment node. After that you'll have to do with the the OKTO and other 0.625m cores, which can be stuck in a 1.25m bay to make a shielded 1.25m control package (with batteries, RW, antenna, etc).

But if you want early-game probe control the stock tech three is not the place to look anyway, Mk1 or not - stock considers probe control an 'advanced' thechnology.

The Stayputnik doesn't have SAS though. I'm proposing a full-featured probe core like nose cone design

Like the CH-J3? Which is both aerodynamically shaped and also provides full SAS stuff?

In any case, the mk2 probe core is almost at the end of the tech tree, the same level as the mk 1 drone core. If you want SAS stuff, use the CH-J3, appearing a full 2 levels earlier under specialized control

The CH-J3 just provides SAS, it isn't capable of piloting a vessel
