Auto maneuvers

Recommended Posts

When right clicking on the Apoapsis indicator in map view, there should be a "circularize" button that creates a maneuver node to circularize your orbit. There should also be a "plane change" button at ascending/descending nodes (edit: only when something else is targeted). This could only show up if you have a level 3 tracking station.

Also, throttle should automatically cut when the delta-v for a maneuver is 0m/s.

I don't think it should get that specific.  I think that should stay in mod territory, like MechJeb.

However I would love a "Place maneuver node at AP / PE / AN / DN" button in stock.

Also AN/DN markers with no target selected relative to the orbited body's equator with said button would be spiffy.

I didn't mean that the manuever should automatically be executed. It should just placed for you to then use. It's more accurate than manually dragging the prograde icon, and its useful to reduce grind for people who have been to orbit a lot already.

When you've gone to orbit a heap of times, you basically do it without thinking. It becomes so natural. Now that sounds weird

I think a better idea would be to have the option to place the maneuver node exactly on the apoapsis/periapsis/dn/an but you would still have to make the maneuver yourself. Although in all honesty this is pretty pointless because you can get your maneuver nodes accurate enough with the current system.

I use Precise Maneuver a lot. If you're just going to the Mun, or even Duna, it's overkill. But it's very handy for stuff like a Jool-5 mission, where small changes can have oversized effects because you're changing SOI 5 times and getting multiple gravity assists.

+1 for Precise Maneuver. You can place the maneuver node at AN/DN/AP/PE, you can circularize and you can do plane changes. Basically everything the OP asked for except for cutting off throttle, but that just takes practice.
