I had an idea and want to suggest it: a DLC similar to Making History, but instead of the past of spaceflight, the future of spaceflight. It would have parts themed after upcoming rockets in the future, and would add parts that also are in use today, such as proper landing legs for rockets.

You are basically talking about Nertea's Near Future pack of mods. Which is one of the community's top shelf mods and always has been. It's awesome. I would think Squad would be hesitant to go into this territory because this particular mod is so high quality. Kerbal Re-usability Expansion has the landing legs you want.
