Google says it kinda a new candidate in a Dyson sphere or so.

The fact that there are a bunch of these things turning up either makes it more likely or less likely to be a Dyson sphere... we should probably investigate at least one of them a bit more closely just to settle the issue a bit.

Well, it is not a question of investigations (there are more than one, including listening for "artificial" signals) or explanations. There are quite a bunch of suggestions and proposals to explain the different kinds of dimming.

For those who are content with a Dyson sphere, here you go. The rest of us must live with the current explanations or wait for better ones.

It's the Vogon Constructor Fleet preparing for the new hyperspace bypass that will pass through Sector ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha.

Maybe we should try tell them we won't like the new bypass...

There's no point in acting all surprised about it. The planning charts and demolition orders have been in your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for over fifty of your Earth years, so you've had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it's far too late to start making a fuss about it now.

Unfortunately, it would seem that it goes right through the third planet of a relatively inconsequential g-type star.
