Good couch co-op games?

With the Steam sale on, I'm on the lookout for games I can play multiplayer with my two young sons. I mean real multiplayer, with everybody on the same screen instead of on their own 'puters. Like the good ol' days.

In particular I'm wanting co-op gameplay for more than two at once. We have several of the Lego games already (which are fantastic), but only two of us can play at once. Any suggestions?

The only one that comes to mind is Minecraft for console (not PC), which has split screen for up to 4 players. I don't play many games in general, so I'm afraid I can't help you very much with this one.

For three people the obvious answer would be the aptly named Trine (1 and 2, nobody seems to like part 3): https://store.steampowered.com/app/35700/Trine_Enchanted_Edition/

Cooking: https://store.steampowered.com/app/448510/Overcooked/

Brawler: https://store.steampowered.com/app/204360/Castle_Crashers/

Factorio ?

But needs an own server setup if you don't want to join an existing one. It is in terms of possibilities one of the deepest games i know, besides production chains (and fights which you can switch off) there's transport logistics, trains, combinatoric logic ...

No, everybody is on their own computers, sorry.

A little older at this point, but I used to play 'Splosion Man with my step kids quite a bit.

There's also I Made A Game With Zombies In It, which is a basic, twin stick shooter, and absolutely should not be played or viewed by anyone prone to seizures.  But it can be pretty intense.

Some of the older Halo games had split screen. The modern ones might still have it, but I lost track of the franchise...

I don't remember about 4, but Halo 5 does not.  Doesn't even have system link.  The only way to play Halo 5 multiplayer is over Xbox Live, and that's the biggest reason my Xbox One is now a glorified paperweight.

Reach is phenomenal though.  Easily the best multiplayer experience in the entire franchise, especially if you make your own maps in The Forge.

Yeah. I was thinking Halo 3 in particular. Haven’t played Reach...
