I'm not seeing direction of contract location on my navball :-)

As above I can click activate navigation but not see direction on navbell i must use map overviev, with make this whole navigation thing pointless

Check the Waypoint Manager mod for better waypoint management  

It is however not at all pointless. I suspect you can bullseye a location to within a few hundred metres using the map view waypoint - and they seem to have a radius of about 600m.
