Dude, it looks like you're always going down deep into hollows.  Is this contributing to your crashing?

Out here everything contributes to my crashing . . .

We are not going to fly in the fuelcells right now, the Bugger is doing fine on 2 fuelcells.

The nose is lighter now without those fuelcells, maybe that will help prevent crashing a bit.

Crossed the bridge, on our way to bridge #3.

Why not set a new speed record on this loooooooooooooooooooooooong dragstrip, 47.8 m/s

Reaching the end, I know, it's not pretty...

Checkpoint 32

We couldn't set cp 32 50km from cp 31 because that point is on the bridge.

Almost drove half the planet.

Can you move the bridge? The difference in time to make a new bridge vs just using the one that’s there is probably about the same huh?

:maneuver:

Yeah, I thought the same.

I'd better take my losses and just drive the extra km's, bridge building takes a lot of fiddling lining up the parts...

Might aswell record it:

Spoiler

"For the world is hollow and I have touched the sky!"

In other news, I've discovered the fuel tank drain logic now draws from all appropriate tanks at the same time (I assume to reduce CoM movement).  Considering you're likely to lose the more forward tanks, you should see about draining the front tank, then the next, etc.

Have you considered steering with the rear wheel only?

No, so I gave it a try and almost crashed.

I only have 2 left, but I can give it a try.

You can change the flow priorities of your fuel tanks to allow the front to drain faster than the back. One thing I wish ksp had auto balance tanks to maintain cg and I still haven’t found a mod good enough to do it. But you only have tanks up front so it would help so much lol.

You should try the mod tweakable everything it will open up more adjustable parameters

Tbh the tanks are so small I don't think it would make a great difference.

It seems we are out of breakable parts, everytime I crash we just bounce.

I advised draining the front tank first so when (not 'if') you lost it in a crash, you'd lose the least amount of fuel. :D   As it seems you can't strip anymore parts short of a massive crash, it's moot now until you repair again.

I must be crazy for doing this trip, it all seems so pointless after 4 weeks of driving.

I'll be honest and thought of quiting and move on to something else, but I feel like I need to continue for the people that follow this thread.

Also I know that if I quit now those 4 weeks of driving would be pointless.

So I feel like I have no choice, I need to move on ......

But that is exactly what I did here:

vJh7Cfl.png

I even locked the back tank so only the front tank provides fuel.

But really, it's like I'm driving a tank now, I crashed 5 times today and the bugger just bounces of it's wheels.

EDIT: LOL !

Speak of the devil: I ran out of power, the front tank is out of fuel...

Switching to the back tank.

Coming up, checkpoint 35.

LOL!  I meant when you had another tank(s) in front of the ones remaining.  The ones left seem safely guarded by the rest of the front end.

Your design has been "refined" by breaking off all the bits that easily break off. :)

We're supporting you to keep you in the drive, dude.  We're hoping to see you drive back into KSC with that beastie.

Though by then it'll be a little like the Rover of Theseus. :)

I NEED A COMPROMISE . . .

The red line shows our upcoming route :

There is no way I'm going to drive that, ever.

So I came up with an alternative: We are going to build a bridge.

This could be interesting, I can show people how to use Kerbal Konstructs + Kerbin Side, I've heard some people have problems figuring this out.
