Because I've taken of 1 wheel, the handbreak was reset and the Bugger started rolling downhill on it's 3 remaining wheels.

Well, I think this shows that the Elder Gods are angry.  Better watch out or you might wake some of them up from their deathly slumber.

BTW, perhaps you should report this issue on the KIS topic.  Pulling a wheel off shouldn't change the brake setting of the rover.

Nah, I'm kinda hoping someday someone will experience the same thing. ;)

My new trike is doing great btw.

@Hotel26 Like that?

We should check with another projection, but it seems like it adds quite a bit of distance... And there are bridges to be added. As for the scenery improvement, someone should fly there to compare with the planned route.

SHIPS COMPUTER has already done the statistics.  Computers never lie...

Anyway, that's a Mercator Projection which exaggerates distances at the poles (which is why the population density is so low).  And which is why the scenery there is so beautiful...

I like that, I say we go for it, the small river has caught my interest and I can show how I build bridges when I do it on the spot.

Thanks for being involved guys, I would have stopped days ago if it wasn't for you. &)

No driving today, sorry.

Is the wheel configuration still a trike? Or did you get the fourth wheel back on?

if a trike is a good compromise add a 2m I-beam to hold that rear wheel offset.

The 4th wheel is gone, exploded.

There is no service nearby and the trike is doing surprisingly good, so we will drive it for now.

When if we reach the upcoming base I'll fly in some new parts for the Bugger.

LET'S RIDE !

44.9 m/s, not bad for a three-wheeler.

Checkpoint 21

It seems checkpoint 20 has vanished, so we use checkpoint 19 as our marker for checkpoint 21.

bQz2M4h.png

NgSCKG7.png

Checkpoint 5 and 11 also vanished, we will fly in a small jet later to replace them.

Let's hope we can go through here save safe. I'm not going around it.

My English is fine, I just have a Kerbal accent....

PITSTOP !

The Bugger keeps pulling to the left, something is not right . . .

HdsuzGV.png

jH9w7qA.png

First I wanted to get out and remove and replace the wheel, but the handbrake doesn't work anymore.

I decided reloading the game (not quicksave, that's dissabled in my game, I hate quicksaving) may solve my problem, and it did.

Returned to the Bugger and the wheels are looking ok again.

We are obviously not in the flat desert anymore . . . .-_-

pUZOO0P.png

The advantage of a trike is a Kerbal can push it back on it's wheels.

Reloaded the game to fix the wheels, O, and we lost a fuelcell too . . .

If we ever engineer a new vehicle for that trip again, we should remember when setting the center of mass etc to consider that most of the distance covered would be with about half of the parts left.

Our next problem: we are running out of power.

We need more batteries, I don't think we can make it to South Point without...

I guess we need to fly in some parts now.

DAY 10

We are not going to use the cargo jet, we need the tanker jet for this job.

jqzaklQ.png

We pumped fuel from the cargo jet to fill up the tanker jet (in short: the cargo jet became a tanker jet and our tanker jet became a cargo jet :confused::wacko:)

Now we need to strip parts from our restored Bugger.

we3Bh7J.png

My Kerbals have gathered the parts and we are about to take off.

zqsWEKI.png

Btw: Why does this base have so many radar dishes ?

That information is distributed on a need-to-know basis.

BLACKBOX

I've recorded the whole flight, 10 minutes.

If you don't want to watch 10 minutes of flying please skip to the landing part.

S60Q96I.png

I would advise to watch the whole video, since it shows the path Edberry has been driving the last few days (and because my jet looks cool )

With all that flipping, why don't you seize the chance and turn the buggy into a Reliant Robin, definitely 10 times more entertainment.;)

Repairs are done, we didn't bring a wheel because it's too large for our inventory.

I could attach a wheel on a jet and fly it in.

Personaly I don't mind because I kinda like my trike.

Next we will be flying the jet to South Point base.
