"Feature" request--current verseion as beta

Could we have the current version available as a beta?  With all the mods for this game one generally does not want to blindly update and the beta system lets us do exactly that--but we can only lock to previous versions, not the current one.

Are you talking on Steam?

Just move the installation folder elsewhere, then download a different version.  You can have as many installs as you want, as many different versions as you want.  There's no DRM, and you don't need to launch Steam to launch the game.

But won't the game update itself when launched if there's an update?

If you have an install where Steam actually installs the game, and you have updates turned on, then yes.  If you move the installation, which is literally cutting and pasting the whole folder, Steam won't know about it and can't touch it.

You can also shut off automatic updates if you want Steam to continue to manage the game.  AFAIK, the only reason to do this is for the play hour counter.
