Current Release (GitHub)

The Part Overhauls mod was published by Squad during the KSP 1.2 Pre-Release to showcase the new PartUpgrade feature and to preview the planned Rocket Engine Overhaul.

The visual overhaul has since been overtaken by and included in the Restock project. POBI aims to incorporate the PartUpgrade-based rebalance for 1.25m engines into the stock/Restock+ engines, thereby combining gameplay-optimized stats with the best available visuals.

Dependencies

Required, not included:

Recommended, not required:

If Restock+ is not installed, the Valiant and Pug engines will not be available.

Installation

Delete any existing installed version of this mod, then drop the PartOverhaulIntegration folder into your GameData folder wherever KSP is installed.

Compatibility

If PartOverhauls is present, those parts will receive bugfixes and will be hidden. This is to provide backwards compatibility.

You could make this more useful by removing the dependency on Restock+ specific engines. There's no reason to make it a hard requirement when 90% of the mod works for a stock install without Restock/Restock+. Just add :NEEDS[ReStockPlus] for patches specific to that mod.

Good point. Restock+ provides two of the five engines affected by this mod, but the three stock engines still benefit from rebalancing on their own.

Expect another release with this and other minor improvements in the next day or so. In the meantime, I'm pretty sure that MM will simply skip over patches that don't have matching parts, so Restock+ should already be a "soft" dependency.

  • 11 months later...

v0.2.2 Release

  • Changed Pug Isp to preserve performance from original PartOverhauls mod when not upgraded (Restock 0.1.4 had changed this from 320 to 330)
  • Added TechHidden attribute to old PartOverhauls versions of parts

Compatible with at least v1.8.1 of KSP and the corresponding versions of Restock/RestockPlus; probably compatible with any given past or future version as well.
