I've seen (on YouTube) a 1.3 ton Minmus rocket, a 3 part Gilly rocket, and an SRB only rocket to the Mun. You might want to reconsider your challenges.

Heck, I thought recently that an Eve SSTO lander might be impossible (gets into orbit), let alone an SSTO that can fly from Kerbin to Eve's surface and back again without refuelling. Then I was proven wrong....

I've done solids to the Mun before, and Minmus is easier, so I decided to aim for the part and mass goals. This one has 9 parts and weighs 6.4 tons at launch:

It also has almost 1 km/s of excess delta-v, so I suspect that the < 5 ton goal could well be doable with some tweaks. Honestly, I forgot about that  part and just aimed for < 10 tons and < 10 parts.
