Celthon
Just bought/downloaded the game 3/18/19...while looking through files I found a bunch of pre-loaded ships & devices, but wondered if they get updated along with the game itself? If a ship was created/built using parts from (for example) 4-years ago, would the ship function with stats from the original parts, or current parts/stats? Note: Playing on desktop PC, without mods or add-ons, if that makes any difference. Thank you for your time and assistance.
Gargamel
Welcome! The parts are loaded individually when you load the game up, so unless the craft is using some depreciated parts that are kept around to prevent peoples saves from breaking, they should be using the latest version of that part. So no, the crafts usually don't get updated with each version, although sometimes they do when required. A craft is made up of individual parts, and that's how the physics engine sees the craft, as a collection of parts, not a single functional unit. Most of them are designed for looks, or designed for earlier versions and haven't been balanced to keep up with changes in the game physics. You're best off using the stock ships as inspiration for your own rockets, rather then actually trying to fly them. Edited March 25, 2019 by Capt. They didn't fly very well when they were new either....
