Does this mod still work with 1.11?

I came here to find out the same thing! Reading just a few posts above yours suggests that yes, it works, but there are some issues. See the following post:

*snip*

But like others said there are a few weird things :

- internal decoupler doesn't work and tend to mess with MJ deltaV, i've removed every decoupler module from all PF parts (using // in original files and RO patch files) -> problem solved

- setting the ejection power and torque is messy, i had one rocket where the fairing would systematically hit the nearest bottom fuel tank even if i gave it more than enough room to move away and tried to tweak ejection values.

- you can't put back a fairing on a flipped upside down boattail, you need to detach the fairing base, flip it up, reattach it to your rocket, reattach the fairing, detach the fairing base, flip it down and reattach it to your rocket. (not a big problem but annoying)

- at large diameters the fairing base (simple ring or hollow ring) becomes too high, i adjusted it : height is 50% original for simple ring, and 90% for hollow ring. (the 2nd parameter is modified for : scale, node stack top and node stack connectors) -> it looks like it's working. ^_^

The best way to find out if it works is to try it out and see.

No one has the same mix of mods as you do, so no one is going to be able to definitively answer if it will work for you.  Copy your KSP folder, install the mod to the copied version, and test it.  If it works, install it to your main, if not, you can either walk away, or put your time into figuring out what's wrong and how to fix it.

Got a problem with the procedural fairings in which the fairing base causes the entire craft to freak out in the VAB when I try to move it.unknown.png

In a test install, minimal mods, this mod causes 1.12.1 to crash to desktop after selecting a fairing base in the VAB.   There are other oddities as well, but until this is fixed, can't isolate those

Log file shows absolutely nothing

No CTD  for me, but a massive drop in FPS in the VAB/hangar when any part gets added BELOW any ProceduralFairing part (or part that has the PF module implemented).

Looks like it's the same problem mentioned in the KSP Recall thread about since KSP v1.11 the part cost recovery calculation is bugged for parts with zero inital costs, hence it's creating massive problem for refunding mods, resulting in a memory leak (my KSP.log is spammed with "KSP-Recall-Refunding] TRACE:" entries).

It's a bummer, i really like the PF-fairings. They free me from the cumbersome stock shell building. And they look much better.

I use Simple Adjustable Fairings - KW Rocketry Pack, they work well, look great, and are actually somewhat realistic.

I was using this because I was running a test for another mod which required this.  Couldn't figure out the problem until I removed this

Funny thing i just recognized, CKAN already had installed the SAF-plugin as dependency from BDB .

As i'm playing mostly career, the already researched fairings from BDB are just a bit too tiny. (although very authentic).

Looks like I'm about to "cross the iron curtain"and install more part mods working with SAF (looking at you, Tantares) then.

There are never enough parts. :D (Especially if sorting through them is so easy, due to such fine mods like Filter ExtensionsJanitor's Closet, Quicksearch and many more thanks to the modfather @linuxgurugamer).

Actually, there can be, too many parts makes the editor slow during searches, etc

Seen a few folks looking to find out why the Thrust Plate is size limited to 1.5m or fairings to 3m etc - Its all slightly hidden in the release notes for v6.0 back in May:

Quote

"Notice for sandbox play: You must enable the difficulty setting to enable all PartUpgrades in sandbox, otherwise you will be overly restricted in the sizes you can set. This follows a trend with Procedural Parts."

Fixed it for me.

Does the current iteration function with the current version of ksp?

Unfortunately It does not sound like it, If you look up through the comments above you will see a decent amount of discussion about it.

I certainly hope it gets an update from someone, I have been using it in one form or another for nearly 8 years now I think, maybe more, feels wrong without it and I'm just not a huge fan of the stock fairings :/

In the thread for the current ksp version @Spaceman.Spiff speculates it might work since it says 1.8+ but its speculation. If it does not work my current save is over. I will lose my ships and i will lose a memorial craft for my deceased best friend.  I am hoping it works. My luck in the last 10 days says otherwise. I may try tonight.

this situation is why ive always wished they made the stock fairings in the style of or used PF instead of what they used. But they went with what they went with. I tried them. Did not like them. Still do not like stock fairings. Many reasons why.

Im not sure what to do if they bug out in a dummy test save. I just know it will as i said end my save if they dont work. :sob:

i will of course try what i can later (too hot in that room, poor air circulation from the ac in that room with my desktop) when it cools down. And ill update how it goes.

Why would it end your save? Don't update your game to the new version, or did you mod your steam install?? If you did try seeing if you can't an older version downloaded, IDK if on steam if they have older versions in the "betas" section.

If you are playing in sandbox, enable "Enabled All Part Upgrades in Sandbox" in your difficulty settings. PF diameter limits are set via upgrades, and for some reason Squad defaults to leaving that option defaulted to off in difficulty settings, meaning your diameters are locked in sandbox.

Hello,

I got a strange bug that do not let me put any struts anymore. After using the Fairing base i can not put any struts anymore in the underlying parts.

This is a stock 1.12 install with only this mod installed. i made a Video so you can see it easier what i mean. https://streamable.com/v6m9tp

If you are able to place the first end of the strut, but not the second end, this trick might work for you (it has worked for me in the editor for a similar strut glitch).  Press your MOD key (typically Alt on Windows, R-Shift on Linux) while you click when placing the second end.  This will copy  it as you place it as a side effect.  This may not work in your case, but hope it helps.  Given your video, I think it will help.  And I'm betting your KSP.log is getting spammed with Null References once the glitch starts also

I should add that I don't think this glitch is specific to this mod.  I've seen NERV engines being part of the craft causing the same, or similar, issue.  And maybe Procedural Parts.  But I think that is just correlation with something in KSP that particular parts trigger

I have textures unlimited installed, but the recoloring gui button won't show up in the fairing options. Any idea what's going on?

EDIT: Nevermind, I was just using an older version of procedural fairings (so much for ckan auto-update...)

I have installed Procedural Fairings for 1.10.x, from CKAN, with RO.

It appears that the fairing bases have now been adjusted to limit themselves to the diameter of what they were attached to, with the user unable to increase their diameter further. This renders it impossible to use the mod. I hope this issue can be fixed soon.
