This new Heatshield for the windows is a decoupler, jettison before landing

Because Ж has obviously a similarity to X.

Strange. After all there is a letter more similar to "X" in russian alphabet. This is letter - "X"

"Х" is completely the same, not "similar"

It's supposed to be a stylistic choice. To make it seem less close to the "real" world, I guess. in form looks similar, yet different when compared to X. It's probably just a reference to how BDB has many of the text on the side of spacecraft have English words with Cyrillic letters.

The Orginal modder also set the manufacturer to "Mjolnir OKB"

so i think that was just a joke to set everything with soviet/russian name for this Kerbal mod.

I am Russian and I did not appreciate “humor” of BDB with Cyrillic inscriptions. For me it is ... not hot and not cold. It's no way.

It is possible that this humor is only for Americans

Maybe it is the letter K, mirrored (back-to-back) and joined to make an X.   Substituting K for things is a Kerbal tradition.

I've flown six missions to the Mun and Minmus and numerous missions to Kerbin orbit. The X-20 is retiring soon in my game...

But her legacy lives on!
