Kerbals Level Up Immediately not working

I rescued a Kerbal from orbit of Kerbin, then sent him to the Mun; after orbiting the Mun, landing and planting a flag, his character does not show any XP gain.

Running both DLC and several mods.

Dropbox seems to require a login to view, so I can't see the screenshot.

Any chance he died? There's a bug with the MPL leveling up Kerbals who died, maybe it also happens to the "immediately" setting. It's a grab at a straw but all I can think of off the top of my head.

In a stock 1.7.1 install (including Making History and Breaking Ground) my kerbals level up immediately on orbit.

Found a way to fix the bug in the case : kerbal died, been restored. It's hacky, but it fixes the bug. So go to newly made quicksave.file (game location/saves/campaign-name) from there open the new save file in notepad, txt, enable edit on the file, find the kerbal/s under ROSTER, which are making you the trouble, find their flight log and delete the line of the log that mentions n(number) - Die, remove them all from the log of the kerbal. After saving, you can load up the save and they will gain the xp that's missing. You can do it while the game is running.
Hopefully that helps a lot of lazy people that do not want to fly their kerbals around to gain xp.

Know this is old post but it IS the one that helped me....

Noticed a scientist who wasn't leveling up, though I didn't notice until he'd orbited Eve and Gilly, then planted flags on both Ike and Duna.

He was stuck at Level 3 only showing flag plantings on Mun and Minmus.

Deleted, the Die and subsequent Spawn that apparently happened on the Minmus launch (years ago, don't even remember it) and it fixed it.

P.S. Doesn't have the be the quick save file. I made one called Die Test (rather literal, I know). Edited that and reloaded. All was fine.
