They are new parts that you can place for extra friction.

Would they also help keep craft/bases from sliding over the ground?

Things that create traction usually have surface features like treads, grooves or dimples to allow them to get purchase on the surface they are trying to adhere to. These look like they have dimples... yet the surface looks completely flat with respect to the lighting. An extent bump map would go a LONG way into making these parts look as though they actually would function as per their intent.

If it's not high enough, there will be a patch for that.

I hope they're just cranked way up from the get go, 100m/s or more, rover wheel segments can be hitting the ground that hard even if the rover itself isn't. I'm currently using small pylons (with a crash tolerance of 80m/s) for tyres.

I'll just wait for Restock to make them not look bad.

This isn't magic, it won't fix all sliding bases but should help a bit.

Friction with what, though?

Other parts and terrain. Everything that has a collider on it.

I was about to ask if “rocks” included things like Minmus or crew members (Seriously! Check out some of those guys’ Stupidity stats).

Will it remain engaged during time warp?

By the sound of it, these aren't designed to be grabbers as such, but more non-slip feet for walkers?

I don't think it matters what they are designed for, but what our community of demented engineers will put them to task on.

If it keeps bases that are on reasonably level terrain from sliding around, I for one would be happy.
