kerbal traits adds farbals, copilots, rangers, passengers, and colonist

What does defend mean here?
And what do copilots and passengers do?

Would be nice to have an overview over the capabilities of each trait.

I downloaded this mod and peered into the CFG file.

Ranger

    Rangers can fly a vessel, repair stuff, reset experiments and defend the base . They're basic Guards
    Effects: FullVesselControl, Repair, ScienceReset, ExternalExperiment
    GeeForceTolerance: 1.3, 1.45, 1.6, 1.85, 2.0


Colonist
    Colonists can fly a vessel, repair stuff and reset experiments. They're basic allrounders
    Effects: FullVesselControl, Repair, ScienceReset, ExternalExperiment
    GeeForceTolerance: 1.3, 1.45, 1.6, 1.85, 2.0


CoPilot
    CoPilots can fly a vessel as a secondary pilot and repair
    Effects: FullVesselControl, Repair, EVAChute level 0
    GeeForceTolerance 1.3, 1.45, 1.6, 1.85, 2.0


Passenger
    Passengers can fill a empty spot in a vessel
    GeeForceTolerance 0.75, 0.75, 0.75, 0.75, 0.75


Farbal
    Farbals can do anything they are laythe kerbals
    Effects: Science, ScienceReset, SpecialExperiment, ExternalExperiment, FullVesselControl, Repair, Converter, Drill, FailureRepair, EVAChute level 1
    Also has Autopilot skill, but a typo in the source prevents this from taking effect
    VesselScienceReturn 1.05, 1.1, 1.15, 1.2, 1.25
    PartScienceReturn 1.05, 1.1, 1.15, 1.2, 1.25
    GeeForceTolerance 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5

Well, at least it's just a config file.

Ranger is useless.  What is there to guard and defend against?

A Passenger looks like the same as a tourist

and a Farbal?  looks OP

obviously the passenger wil be the most usefull of them all

if possible you can add that the passenger give money or reputation when you get somewhere with it so there would be a use to it other than taking place

If you don’t mind my asking, what did you change versus the original mod? 

It says on space dock that this is your ‘first real mod’, hence my confusion about how this differs from maculator’s version.

Hi there..

I have installed this mod for the 1.7.3 game and don't see any extra kerbals of any of the types stated? 

Mind you, I have still a problem where I can't pick any more crews than the five listed on the kerbals available for flight!  Any of the ones on the unpicked for capsule use or flight use in the astronaut complex are listed there but if I click on their green tick to choose them for a place on a flight not filled, The system does not let them be added to any flight list of crews?  I have already put this on the forum as a problem to answer!

Maybe the bug that stops me picking any more crew is stopping me use your mod?  ;.;
