[New] Space Launch System / Orion Discussion Thread

Can anyone imagine an IT professional under higher pressure right now than the guy being driving by a security officer at high speed out to the radar site, with a new switch tucked under their arm?

Every time NASA shows some animation regarding actually landing on the Moon they use some rando lander.

Keep an eye out for Kerbal landers, they've been known to use KSP in presentations before.

"It's midnight, and they've gone over everything five times already today," the intern thought.  He settled down for a quiet shift, put his headphones on, and started watching through some Youtube videos.  A hot cup of coffee nearby slowly changed to warm, lukewarm, and then room temperature.

Suddenly, the phone rang.

L-40 is in about 6 minutes

Oh damn I'm stupid. L- isn't T-. I got it now.

Comparing the time to my own clock right now, and what you said clicked https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/launch?p0=5153&iso=20221116T0104

Edit: So last time SLS tried to launch, there was a hold at T-40 minutes, which isn't the same as a 40-minute hold.

I'm curious about how the IT guys are doing.

"The launch is when!?"

"After midnight."

"Aw, Jeez. You gotta be kidding. I don't want to work late."

"Neither do I. What do we do?"

"Let the intern cover it. It's not like anything is actually going to break."

An Ethernet switch? Dime a dozen.  Should be redundant throughout along with redundant cable runs and STP enabled for automatic rererouting on failure

As my coworker says, "'Should' should be a four letter word."
