So, basically, an easter egg on Duna that'd be referencing The Martian in some way. Comment what you think!

Ideas for the easter egg I've had so far:

  • MAV base
  • Hab somewhere on the ground
  • The rover, complete with RTG in the cab, perhaps near the Mars(or duna?) Pathfinder probe
  • A simple sign saying 'Mark Watney(/Kerman?) woz ere' or similar.

Neat idea! Could also be something simpler, like perhaps seeing a half buried RTG (from when before he got it in the rover)

A potato field.

Upd.
And a bag of remained fertilizer.

make it subtler - a couple of spots where the ambient music changes to Kisco... (Kerbal Disco equivalent)

K-M-C-A!

Here are Some:

  • The junk he threw out of the Ares 4 MAV
  • The MDV descent stage
  • Some of the rocks he arranged in morse code messages
  • Airlock one, on the ground
  • The signs he used to communicate with JPL before he reprogrammed the rover
  • A sign half buried with a string attached that says "ayyyyyyyyy"

MAV Base with the ability to go inside

Perhaps an actual ship marked as debris

A rover cabin with the note: "To whom it may concern, take care of this Rover. She saved my life. Watney."

I’m thinking either a half buried RTG or an airlock 1 on the ground.

”Mark Kerman says ayyyyyyyyy”

A sudden sandstorm tearing your base apart in almost vacuum conditions.

debris are marked as turned off when the game first loads from the tracking station.

Yeah but it would be as simple as turning it on and it will be inmidiatly found

I would like tho that the marker apeared once you discover the debris

Derelict Hermes in solar orbit. They had spent all fuel by taking Watney from Mars. Now they are orbiting between Duna and Kerbin.

A crashed Mk1-3 pod with open nose and windows, no hatch, and a single command seat in the center.

It could be named 'Mk W'.

At most it should be a half buried rtg with the ayyy sign and a hearth of snacks beneath. No potatos, just snacks.

Although I think this is a fantastic idea, it would be in a way promoting the Martian. (I sound like I don't want it, but I'm trying to show the other side of the argument). I also feel that Easter eggs in KSP are normally related to real spaceflight endeavours that have changed the industry, or KSP related items, eg the Kracken. Although its a great idea its not real and I think Easter eggs should be reserved for only spectacular moments from spaceflight history.

A derelict ship with a mineralized Kerbal astronomer next to the telescope, and mysterious eggs spitting jumping krakenoids attaching to the helmet glass.
