Autostruts not available?

I have Advanced Tweakables turned on, but I don't have any button for setting the autostrut for the various parts. Is autostrut something that only comes later in the tech tree?

Depends on what you mean by "later". They unlock at the same time as regular struts, with the "Advanced Construction" tree node.

Did you right click the part to select the grandparent?

There isnt a ''button'', you right click most of the parts and you get the option.

Sometimes we miss things, if its not that, then what bewing said  .

I think I was not far enough along on the tech tree. I right clicked the part but had no options for "autostrut". I have since moved up, on the tech tree, and autostrut is now available.
