Based on the information we have now about KSP 2, do you think you will continue playing KSP 1 once KSP 2 is released?

Personally, I'm pretty confident KSP 2 will be significantly better than 1, so I don't think I'll play 1 after the release.

Since we don't know what KSP2 will really be like, none of us can answer for sure.  But, probably.  I still play all three Borderlands games.  There are certainly aspects to the first one that 2 and TPS don't have.

Ditching a game just because there's a sequel is, well, dumb in my opinion.

Yes, I will.

An example I have is Civilization IV, Civilization V, and Civilization VI. I still play all three, although in Civilization IV, I and the Celts are the only two civilizations remaining.

I have things I want to do in KSP still. I've got a fan fic going that demands (and I honestly do not mind) to be completed in KSP Klassic. Plus I am begining to learn to mod and in KSP Klassic it's a great introduction to modding.

I probably won't play much KSP 1 once KSP 2 comes out. I don't think I'll play much BEFORE KSP 2 comes out. Sure there will be a few nostalgia runs or maybe I'll load it to answer a question here, but really after 6 years I'm kinda done with KSP no matter what.

I'm not complaining. No video game has ever held me as consistently for as long as KSP did. But everything ends.

Absolutely.  While we will have a much more refined game as far as performance, career, and a few new things, the content gap on release is going to the HUGE.  There will be a place for both, and I hope the KSP 1 team keeps pumping out new content while looking for ways to make performance better.  Still waiting for the Squad to release SOUNDS for Breaking Ground (propellers and engines do make noise ya know)

Two reasons for me: 1) I don't expect KSP2 to have a Linux version at launch.(*) And 2) I want to visit every easter egg in my current career. That'll probably take me a while. (Especially if I upgrade that to "plant a flag at every easter egg".)

(*) Which IMHO is a mistake by the devs. It would be a big mistake if they don't release a Linux version soon-ish after launch.

I will keep playing KSP 1 after I get KSP 2, that is a sure thing. Will I play it as much? Probably not. Will I play it a lot? Almost certainly. I am having far too much fun as it is to simply give up.Even after this career is finished, I have at least one more i want to do that is only possible (for the moment at least) in KSP 1. I will also probably be wary of KSP 2 at first, due to wariness of the unknown and all that. Even if I totally give myself over to KSP 2, I can't see myself ever stopping KSP 1, even if I only come back for nostalgia. After 6 years, it will no doubt keep sucking me back for years to come.

It will be some time after KSP2's release before some features appear in its stock game or mods that support it can be developed. Remember that KSP1 mods will not be compatible.

For me, while I can play KSP2 in a native (slightly faster) Windows 10 environment on my G-Force GPU-equipped iMac (and did so from 1.5 through 1.6), I prefer working in MacOS for now, loving the fact that mods don't require a "Mac version."

The lack of an initial Mac/Linux version on first release is annoying although understandable (it lets the devs focus on the central game's core and less on all things for all people). So long as one appears not very far after release, I will be happy. The fact that console releases precede any Mac/Linux version is also annoying. But the game is a business, and the sales to the larger console market pay the bills needed for support of later releases and platform support.

And, as an IT specialist, I'm reticent to be a KSP2 "beta tester." I know that's the KSP way for the early adapters, but I want to hit the ground running with any significant bugs out of the way.

This all reminds me of playing Diablo 1 for years while also tooling about on Diablo II. Both have, even today, enjoyable gameplay.

Realistically, I doubt I will will play KSP1 much after I get KSP2.  Time is a big factor for a start.

I am intrigued as to how different they will be.  I guess that '1' will have much more 'stuff' like the MH and BG expansions and mods which '2' won't have, for a while at least.  So players using a lot of that content will be more likely to carry on playing it for longer.

I don't know. As with many others, if KSP2 doesn't have the Linux port at launch then I might not play it much until it does. Rebooting into Windows to play a game is a nuisance.

Plus yeah, we know nothing about KSP2 except for what the developers have said.

That said I think if it's done right and once it gets all the ports, KSP2 is the kind of game that could very thoroughly supersede its predecessor.
