It's occurred to me how nice they are.

Would you say that you... like them?

We exist now in a vacuum, devoid of feedback.

Well, you can always say something in the thread....

Conspiracy.

Technical issues, but forum remains up, functioning normally and moderators can still 'like' things indiscriminately without (apparent) technical issues.

I just want to like your post so you can get to a nice round 3,000 rep :P

A minute of conspiracy theories.
The forum administration is running a human experiment, which users are posting for "likes", and which ones just for killing time. Vanity vs Indolence.

I'd fail both these days.

But good luck to the forum moderators and maintainers/developers !

Prolonged exposure to social media without reactions may affect the brain and is known to cause side-affects such as:

  • An inexplicable desire to receive a notification.
  • A tendency to wonder what in hell is taking the technicians so long.

If you experience any of these symptoms or side-affects contact your forum's IT support immediately.

Back in my day, likes was called rep, and almost  no one even knew where the button was. Earning was real something. Kids these days, with their likes and easy to click buttons, and cleaner, better webpages...

And don't get me started on the messages you could send with it! Wonderful things, like, "No comment made," or "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to [USER] again."

Like, Gosh, now we actually have to put it into words, that we like or agree with something. Like this comment, from Dman979,

which really brings back the memories.

....

Now I wish I'd started a thread, or updated a fanwork at this point.
It's nice when they get attention.

A like thread is required. Consisting of like posts like:

"Here I should like these posts
[.....]
[.....] (especially the quoted part)
[.....]
[.....]"

Then everyone liked would get a message that he is quoted/mentioned.

It could be a poll.  But then we'd need a poll for each post.  And what happens if you like a post in a 'like' poll?  That's a lot of polls.

Why poll?

"Here I wish to like the posts:

(... and such way list other posts to be liked)
