problem with 1.8.1 patch

i have instaled the 1.8.1 patch to the game on my laptop running Widows 7 and now both the making history and and braking ground expansions will not load. Help!!!

Mine updated automatically via Steam, and now KSP won't load at all!

I've got a laptop built by a UK company called Cyberpower Systems.  It has an Intel i7-6700HQ CPU operating at 2.6GHz and a GTX 1060 graphics card.

We will need more information than "It won't load at all."

Does it log anything? Are there errors? Have you tried verifying the install with Steam or uninstalling and resinstalling?

I'm at work right now and will look at it agsin when I get home.   However I can say that when I tried it yesterday, when I clicked on the shortcut on my desktop, literally nothing happened as far as the game loading was concerned.  There were no messages, timers it was as if I hadn't tried to open the game.

It sounds like the shortcut is broken.  Try running it directly through Steam, or, if it's not in the Steam folders, try double-clicking directly on the game itself (KSP_x64.exe)

I had visitors drop in unexpectedly so only just got a chance to try KSP.

And the good news is verifying the files with Steam solved the problem!  So once again you guys pulled through, and once again I thank you!

It is not.   They are being worked on by different studios.

Have you tried verifying your game files as described above?

my copy of the game is a direct download . what is the game file verification process

good morning all. i reported a problem with my expansion packs not loading following an upgrade to 1.8.1

the expansion packs are packs are basicly groups of mods. and have to be updated like mods when ever you update to another version of the game . i have updated both expantion packs to the latest versions and now they load fine

Hello fellow kerbals .last week i reported a problem with the 1.8.1 patch. expansions would not load, then i updated the expansion packs and all was well until i tried to add OPT space shuttle parts then the game would freeze while loading expansion packs . Removed expansion packs it still froze while loading. I am downgrading to 1.7.3 when everything worked. 1.8 has some real nifty artwork while loading and some updated textures but i play in sandbox mode in that i'm an armchair test pilot at heart and don't need any of the advanced game play options. well enjoy your Thankskerbal day folks!

I get the same problem too. Luck that I have a back up of 1.7.3 like you

It appears that OPT comes with Firespitter. Looking through the forums, an outdated Firespitter DLL seems to be the main reason for KSP hanging at the "Loading expansion" state. So much so that sarbian felt compelled to add a specific version check to MM.

Updating Firespitter to v7.14 should help.

Thank you for that information. I will be mindful of outdated mads in the future. Sadly that install of the game could not be salvaged and i had to start over with a fresh install of the game . things are working so far.
