Why did my Kerbals teleport on to the tower roof?

I put some Kerbals in the ATC Tower at the Island Airstrip, and then when I switched, the had teleported on top of the roof. Why is this?

Just a glitch, it has been for a while, even if you plant a flag it will be planted on the roof.

Occasionally terrain settings can cause things to spawn at the wrong altitude and jump to the right one. I suspect that's what happened in your case. 

Or perhaps they just wanted a better view.

Yeah thats interesting. The kerbal is in the room at the top of the tower and then on reloading the scene, the kerbal is on top of the building.

A glitch yes

yes and planting a tag on the sputnik antennae easter egg would plant it onto the ground,maybe due to it not liking sputnik lol
