Odd problem - stuck...but not stuck...

Okay, this is a weird one for me.  I've been running basically the same set of addons for the last 3 or 4 months.  All I've done is update the addons as needed through CKAN.  I ran a couple of updates without running KSP after to verify the changes were good.  Yesterday, I ran KSP and found that after going to the R&D screen I couldn't do anything else.  I ALT-F4'd out of the program and re-launched only to discover that the R&D screen was the only one I could go to and no other buildings would open.  Even from the KSC overview going to the Pause/Options screen and clicking Exit to Main Menu did nothing.  Trying to exit to main menu on the R&D screen doesn't work either.

Even worse - there's no error logs.  Period.

Edit - I was able to get into the Astronaut Complex and then pulling up the debug, I'm getting a NullReferenceException when I click the "Leave Facility" button.  Looking at the full debug log in game, it's not showing where this problem is being created, but at least that's another clue?

EDIT: I looked at what mods we had in common. Wasted a few hours testing one mod by one. Traced it down to Better Time Warp Continued - which I didn't think had been updated recently???  But sure enough by deleting that mod the bug goes away in both a new game and my old saved game.

Ya exact same error I'm getting... I have not changed anything on my game (just not played in a week) and today I get this. Full game resinstall did nothing. Full mod reinstall did nothing to fix this. Only thing that seemed to work is to wipe the folder, and just install a stock game with no mods at all. Adding even 1 mod seemed to bring this back for me. Hope someone has a solution.

Better Time Warp has been been adopted by @linuxgurugamer a while ago, it's now called Better Time Warp Continued, latest version is good for KSP 1.8.1, see here

As an alternative you could also use this mod, while not recompiled it works fine with 1.8.1, confirmed myself and the author confirmed it to me too

You misunderstood me... That is the one - linuxgurugamers - which is not working... previous update worked fine, but I guess the latest one a week ago is what ended up making the mod crash our games. Keep in mind this may only be the case 'in combination' with the other mods we use. But through long one by one testing getting rid of that mod is what allowed the game to go back to normal.

I've seen you already did post in LGG's mod thread, good :) 

For my part, I've never used that mod but I stick with the good ol' Warp Everywhere, fits my play style perfectly.

I honestly didn't use that mod that often anyway, so can live without it with no problem. But the strange thing was I didn't remember that mod updating recently via ckan... the mods I did see update were what I first tried to test to see what was breaking the game. But in the end it turned out to be "Better Time Warp Continued" aka Better Time Warp 

PS - I'm looking at Time Control.... seems to do all the warpy stuff and more.

Hairsplitting again, (I'm good at that, hehe): but you said, "Better Time Warp", not "Better Time Warp Continued", I had just quoted you :P 

Kidding aside, I'm happy you found the culprit of your issues plus notified the mod creator about the issue. :) 

Time Control, hmm? Tbh, never heard about that mod. When I started KSP some years ago, I found Warp Everywhere and still stick with it as is does exactly what I want.

Again, I'm happy you could resolve the issue, let me know if I can help with anything else.

I will suggest you to do this:

Open you saved file: ____.sfs (backup it first...)

And look for entries like these:

agent =

Just populate that with the agentName content from the line bellow and that problem should disappear, let me know if it was successful.

 

Sample:

            agent =
            agentName = KSPI-X

Fix:

            agent = KSPI-X
            agentName = KSPI-X

Opened the Persistent.sfs that was generated for the save game I started.  There are no "agent = " or "agentName = " lines in the file.

Oddly enough, I didn't actually have Better Time Warp Continued installed when I posted my list.  However, I installed and un-installed BTWC and it fixed the problem, so it must not have properly un-installed when I removed it.

Your problem was caused by Launch Numbering.  I fixed that exact bug i. It last night

Well, thanks for that.  I really like Launch Numbering, especially since I tend to use similar designs of both satellites/ships and rockets once I find good combos, so it is really helpful to have and help me keep of what launch I'm on.

Unfortunately, I stupidly deleted the save game that I was really enjoying (bad click, not anyone's problem) so I get to start over, but oh well. That's part of the fun!
