How do you build a space station with a prebuilt docked ship?

Recommended Posts

So I was making a Asteroid Capture Scientific Drone (ACSD) and I tried to put a lander on a docking port in the Spaceplane Hangar, but when I had it on another docking port (how It would look if it was docked in space), it wouldn't let me detach when I started flying, how do I make a predocked part of my craft that I can undock whilst in space?

If the lander is connected to a docking port in the editor, then you should be able to detach in flight it by selecting "decouple node" from the right-click menu of the docking port. See also the discussion here: Docking Port Decouple Vs Undocking

I did that, but it doesn't give me the option, do I have to be in space to detach it?

EDIT: I am using a Clamp-o-Tron Docking Port

No, it should work fine on the launchpad.

Can you post a screenshot and/or the craft file? (Assuming that you don't use modded parts.)

You cannot directly attach files. You can upload the file to a hosting service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or whatever, allow it to be downloaded by everyone, and then post the link to that file here.
