They Found Eve

Recommended Posts

Okay, not Eve, but what appears to be the core of a Jupiter-class planet, orbiting close to its star. Evidently it lost its atmosphere.

At 3.5 times the radius of Earth but 39 times the mass, you'd be looking at a surface gravity of 3.2 gees, which is nothing to sneeze at!

No atmosphere thick as gruel? It's not Eve, it's a misplaced, embiggened Tylo :)

Now this is a bit weird, as I understand we found a couple of planets like this before smaller, but heavier as density was around 20 g / cm^3. As its unlikely that planets are made up entirely of heavy elements like osmium and uranium I think its more likely that the remind is an core of an gas giant and the center of the planet has some sort of degenerated matter who is kind of meta stable in that removing the heavy atmosphere let core stay compressed.
This has earth level density so I say its likely an super earth.
