Landing Gear Clipping Through Terrain, Vessel Slides Across Surface

Recommended Posts

When retracting gear vessel jumps into the air. This issue is indiscriminate and affects many planetary bodies from different planet packs by different authors. Vessel slides on the slightest slope, and is not an issue with the brakes. The motors on wheels run, but the vessel does not move from it. Gear is from Kerbal Foundries, but I have had this happen on stock gear too. Really, this affects any kind of wheel/gear. I have found that the only way to alleviate this is creating a new save, but it always comes back eventually. At first I thought it was an issue with Kopernicus 1.8.1, but it is not. I updated today and the issue is still present. I know someone who has encountered this on a stock save, so I am really at a loss on what to do.

Running 1.9.1 on Win64x

I had a plane with weird wheel behaviour- sinking into terrain, bouncing when deployed or retracted, weird friction- and it turned out that the wheels were ‘broken’ due to a rough landing. I sent an engineer out to repair them and then all was fine again. Check in the PAW that the wheel status isn’t broken and if it is, deploy a 3+ star engineer to fix them.
