MechJeb Flight Recorder

Recommended Posts

Can anyone read all the columns in the .csv file downloaded from MechJeb's flight recorder?

For example, I can guess AoA is angle of attack, but even that I am unable to relate to the values in the column for pitch.  Is AoS the "angle of slip"? And what is AoD?  How are they calculated or how do they relate to pitch, yaw, roll?

But really my biggest questions are about the columns for gravity loss, drag loss, and steering loss.  How are these calculated?  And how is the "delta-v expended" column calculated?

I understand it should relate theoretical and actual delta-v, and I can calculate theoretical delta-v, and there are columns for mass, for surface and orbital speeds in the csv file, but I still don't know exactly how to relate each column.

Thank you!

Attributes

All of the basic attributes are calculated here.

AoD is the "angle between surface velocity and the ship-nose vector (KSP "up" vector) -- ignores roll of the craft (0 to 180 degrees)" which is calculated here.

AoS is the "angle between surface velocity and the ship-nose vector (KSP "up" vector) in the plane that has no ship-top/bottom in it (KSP "forward"/"back")" which is calculated here.

Gravity loss, drag loss, deltaVExpended, and steering loss are all calculated here, and they all are calculated based on how much time has passed, "deltaT," and their respective properties. I am confused a little about these too.

Relating

I don't quite understand what you mean by "relate each column."

Hope this helped!
