The Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society and the Kirk Program(Discontinued due to Kerbalism science system stopped working on this savefile)

Honestly, this is my first time making a Mission report of some sort, and honestly, I should've gone with an entirely new save, but I used one that was already in progress since I didn't really want to spend lots of time re-collecting the science for unlocking technology

Probe landing on the Mun (before N-body physics)

Spoiler

At the Kerbal Space Center, The Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society was enjoying their recent success of landing a probe on The Mun, but this was about to be interrupted, as their mathematicians rushed into the room with proof that the venerable "Sphere of influence" model of gravity had just been disproven for good, necessitating changes to the program to handle the harsh truth of the new "N-body physics.".

Gene would sigh "Next thing you're gonna tell me is that Mun and Minmus somehow are not in the places they should be"

"Yeah, apparently an Intern at one of our telescopes switched the labels on the images on accident" Wernher said.

Gene just facepalmed "Great, this makes the Kirk Program harder" Gene became annoyed at this. It's not like this was the first bizarre discovery that they had found. Ever since that Unidentified alien object crashes onto Kerbin.

When the Saucer was found, Kerbals all around Kerbin started questioning what it was and if life outside of Kerbin existed. That was where The K.A.D.S came in, an organization with the purpose of finding signs of alien life and possibly settle areas of The Kerbol system as a side project.

Chapter 1: Minmus for Cheese

Today on Year 1, Day 338, The Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society is gonna launch their Probe to insert into the Orbit of Minmus. The Green-Cheese 1 will be launched on top of a Snack-1 Launch vehicle with what at some point was originally the Munar injection stage, now rebranded as the Minmus insertion stage. Here we can see some pictures taken from a bunch of local drones

And lift off! As Snack-1 with the Green-Cheese-1 launches off the pad!

Meanwhile, from the Mission Control centre. Gene was concerned about the new physics problem that there might be, and since the Simulation software to test this out have broken down, it was difficult for him wondering how the mission would go. Even if Wernher did reassure him that everything would go fine while drinking a cup of coffee.

Although Gene was still worried. Not just for the new physics, but also because it was weird how the probe that had just landed on the Mun is still on it, and from pictures, the land didn't look green at all. It seemed grey, but from the telescopes, it seemed as the Moons of Kerbin had switched places. Gene questioned how this could happen, and how Wernher could be so serene about it? This was suspicious.

Gene then snapped off it as the signal from Snack-1 that the side-boosters had been separated, he would decide to worry not about this so-called weirdness from Wernher Von Kerman and the Kerbin-Mun-Minmus system, at least for now.

After some time, at around 102 KM from Kerbin, Snack-1 would deploy its fairing, revealing the Green-Cheese-1 Probe that is going to become the first scientific Satellite around Minmus.

This would be great for The Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society since they would learn more about Minmus, for example. Was Minmus made of cheese? Nobody knows the answer to this.

And soon it would reach its target orbit of 200x190 Kilometers. Next step was Minmus.

And, Ignition of the Sparkler engine! The people at the Mission Control centre would celebrate as Green-Cheese 1 was gonna safely travel to Minmus in the next pair of days.

Jeb would offer drinks to the people at Mission Control, he ecstatic about this, maybe one day he could become the first Kerbal in Space. However, for now, he would bribe people with drinks in the hope that it would lead to him getting into space faster

After multiple correction burn, The Green-Cheese has successfully circularized at Minmus, The Mission Control Centre rejoices once again about this success.

Chapter 2: Failure after Failure

Today was a weird day at the Kerbal Space Center, first, they now had to construct the launch vehicle and the spacecraft instead of just popping it into existence, and second, parts could somehow start breaking down now. This was all so bizarre since The Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society's vehicles didn't have such thing as this.

screenshot63.png

The Kerbal Space Center staff had a reunion for this but couldn't discover any reason for this to happen. Has most of the staff left, but Gene wouldn't let Wernher out of the meeting room at this moment.

"So, could you explain to me why the probe that landed on the Mun isn't on Minmus? Since the labels were switched?"

"Ah yes, Thanks for reminding me. I forgot to mention that we wanted to be easy on the archivist, so we put it in alphabetical order" Wernher explained.

Gene looked relieved "I guess that sounds reasonable, see you next time" Gene then waved at Wernher as they then exited the room
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gene would notice something weird in the list of contracts that were offered, some of these seemed like ones that KADS had already done, such as the one for the Mun. He would then notice that there seemed to be one for "Flybying" Minmus when they had already orbited it, this sounded like an opportunity to get some extra funds for KADS.

Maybe he could also prepare the first polar Satellite? It was skipped before, so it sounded reasonable to do.

However, first, the more exciting part, Launching another probe to Minmus, on a new Launch Vehicle: The Snack-1B, now with better fuel tanks than the ones it had originally, and much more fuel too.

screenshot64.png

screenshot66.png

Ops! Seems like the second stage has got a problem... And wait, it's gonna crash into the surface! Guess this one won't go to space today.screenshot67.png

screenshot69.png

This might be a problem, which would probably require some redesigning

screenshot70.png

The Redesign would involve a replacement of the Solid rocket boosters with two Liquid boosters using the LV-T30 Reliant engine, now it only had to be launched

screenshot71.png

screenshot72.png

Then, the rocket flipped mid-flight, which was dangerous to the mission, this would require another redesign in the future, but so far, only a piece of the fairing on the Minmus Transfer Bus was lost.

screenshot73.png

screenshot74.png

And now, there were more failures that would come, multiple fuel tanks had started leaking, and the sparkler could not turn on, rendering the Mission a failure

Chapter 2.5:Snack and Cheese

Today, the Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society was gonna attempt again at a Minmus flyby, after doing some extensive checks on the Snack-1-BII. The KSC is hoping that the rocket won't fail again for a third time if not... Then they would've to do something about it, like changing the laws of Kerbal engineering... somehow

screenshot86.png

screenshot87.png

screenshot88.png

Seeing the rocket not having failures at the moment was weird, even for Gene, who had thought that it would most likely fail. Although then, there was all that waiting at LAN with the autopilot... maybe waiting for too much time would cause the part to break, which would've been annoying to anybody who wasn't launching rockets at the KSC.

This means that the Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society had an advantage due to their position, but they would risk higher failure chances when using other launch sites, which means it might still require a change of laws of engineering

screenshot90.png

After the second stage was ignited successfully, Mission control was ecstatic since it didn't break at all for the first time! This would make Gene shed a tear due to how happy he is, just like how a father is proud of his own child when they graduate from college

screenshot91.png

screenshot94.png

And ignition of the Minmus injection stage! This is a great day for the Kerbal Alien Discoverer Society!

screenshot95.png

After two days of waiting, the probe was finally at Minmus, sending data back to Kerbin over some scientific experiments it could do But then kerbalism decided it did not want to send the science to Kerbin
